Hey everyone, I noticed that teen started 5 threads and visited a whole lot more of them. And then I got jealous. I never have anything to start so I figured we could make a brainstorm thread… (and of course I get to start it!)

No, seriously. I know I show two sides of myself here in the cofeeroom. The sucker who listens to everyone’s mussar, and the light shmoozer. (Just by the way, neither of them are really me.) I keep asking myself why I come back. To get attacked? Or to waste time talking about nothing? …And I don’t have an answer because both of those are stupid reasons.

I really want this to be a somewhat serious thread. Don’t shmooze here. Any ideas for interesting topics of conversation?

To quote qwertyuiop: Thanks in advance.

why does every thread seem to come around to the topic of moish01?

its usually moish01 who brings himself up in conversation, so why does he complain about being attacked all the time?

I have two ideas for threads Moish, and you are welcome to create them:

    1) Why do you come to YWN? We all come for different reasons so this would be interesting

    2) Tips on Checking for Bugs! I always feel like I am doing something wrong because I dont find anything.

    how about these topics:

1-why can’t some adults remember what it’s like to be a teenager?

2-is it true that there are a disproportionate amount of girls in shidduchim vs. guys? (have to have at least one shidduch oriented)

3-how can people overcome emotional attachments to gashmius

4-what are we/can we personally do for the yid/yidden that we know, that are not yet frum? (a personal favorite of mine)

I do have more but will start with this for now.

Kiruv wife your first topic is really a moot point b/c there is no plausible reason they would put up with half the garbage that they do if they didnt remember:)

thanks great ideas, all of you. but i’m not married and not looking anywhere near there (rules out 3/4 of them) and i said let’s veer away from kiruv junk.

    anything else?

actually, sjs’s first one was pretty good.

Why do you come to YWN? We all come for different reasons so this would be interesting

should we start it? (and how about giving sjs the honors?)

moish01 – I have to say i’m not into junk, but kiruv junk is the best junk I deal with.

That being said, I think the new thread you started in SJS’s name was a good choice.

How about–will those who are technologically challenged be able to “make it” in the world without pursuing/purchasing items such as cell phones, computers, ipods, blackberries etc.?” or is it a must?

    Joseph-

    Sorry, not yet.

I was at a bris within the past week or two where I was hoping to see a certain Rav, but he wasn’t there. Your (our) shailos haven’t been forgotten.

I happened to see your post, but don’t have time to keep up on all threads due to to being B”H quite busy in the real world.

    #645475

charlie brown: no, i probably will need 2 look at it most nites, cuz at a certain point, i do need 2 get off! but no need 2 put out a search party, i am just, oddly enough, going 2 sleep! (some ppl actually do that at nite!) but i’ll usually b back the next day

“I know I show two sides of myself here in the cofeeroom. The sucker who listens to everyone’s mussar, and the light shmoozer.”

moish- please explain to me why you consider a person that listens to mussar to be a sucker? We’re all on this world to improve ourselves. Please explain- I really don’t understand.

Or is this just a side effect of a teen becoming independent and needing to feel like he’s the boss?

go to their website – you’ll get the whole list of them.

but yeah, i meant like random interesting facts that you know, that you think most people wouldn’t. i dunno – i always love reading or hearing new interesting things.

Accept that person without judgment, for the person he or she is, without making him feel you are trying to “fix” him or preach to him. Eventually that person will probably be comfortable enough in your presence to slowly adopt some of the things he observes in your home.

This is from my husband – did you know that you can fit 14 newly-born opossums on a teaspoon (or maybe it’s a tablespoon). Why you might WANT to, i will never know, but you COULD…

    #645494
    moish01

that’s so cool! just did a quick search and here’s what i found:

Newborn opossums are smaller than a dime.

Newborn opossums are so small you could fit 24 of them into a teaspoon!

    But you wanna know why?

After a pregnancy of only 12-13 days, the tiny, naked newborns, smaller than a dime, crawl up through their mother’s belly fur and into her pouch. Here they attach to a nipple and continue to develop. After about 2 months the young opossums, now bright eyed and fully-furred, crawl out of the pouch and onto their mother’s back.

    #645495

    moish,

no picture of an opossum? Also, I think this belongs in the Feivel category.

Note to self: go to the come back to the CR thread and ask Feivel to come back.

oh right, charlie – i swear that as i was posting it i said, “i should look for a picture” but then i forgot.

anyway, i didn’t find one now. and i ain’t about to draw one myself.

oomis, I can think of a reason why you might want to know how many can fit on a spoon. Think of caviar.
