    Hi,

Seeing that my job search is not exactly going anywhere, and it is almost summer time, and I love children, I am starting to look into camp counselor positions at various overnight camps. I called Agudah, and sent my resume to them, any other ideas of what I should look into? All info would be appreciated.

Also- I forgot to add the catch, for health insurance purposes, I need to be taking online courses while working.

No, your parents insurance is required to cover you until 26 regardless.

its complicated. Feel free to take it up with them, but I highly doubt the mods will let the name of my insurance plan through, all I know is that it is a ppo.

one of my former camp counselors had the same situation happen to her, so she had to while she was in undergrad work in day camp sections of overnight camps in order to be able to have time to take online courses. Then when she graduated, she was able to work with teenagers.

That’s only if the parents have a family plan to begin with. It’s possible that she is in some kind of “student group” and wants to remain in it (although a seasonal job shouldn’t affect it).

Id be surprised if any camp still has staff openings especially counselor jobs. It is very late in the year to be applying. Don’t be surprised if they all tell you they have no openings. Your best bet would be a day camp. They usually tend to have openings until closer to the summer and are in less demand. Try applying as a day camp counselor. Another option may be working a a counselor in a day camp of a bungalow colony. Wishing you much hatzlacha in your job search its never easy to find a job.

False popa. I’m 24 and I can’t be on my parents. I was off it at 21 then obamacare came about and they are very strict about putting people back on their parents. If you were on when obamacare went into effect, that’s different but no, not everyone is automatically on their parents until age 26.

Isn’t it a bit too late to start looking for a job as a counselor? I thought the job search begins in Jan/Feb?

Most overnight camps seem to be in the country side. The zone is also in the country side, that just makes going to walmart that much more fun.

Plus some people in the world like scenery and fresh air….its a shame you don’t…plus they actually have buildings and bathrooms (don’t believe me?) So its pretty nice

But sternberg still uses the same one outhouse a mile away, so you guys have buddies in case someone had to go in the middle of the night, and you get to make your friend walk a mile too when she alf a sleep.

Or you can just use the bushes….but then you might meet a bear. Plus the older bunks live in army tents for a month, and sometimes bears sneak in ob the middle of the night and you wake up with a bear staring you in the face…

that’s why I don’t go there, my friends do cuz for some reason they enjoy it.

I enjoy places like marava or raninu that have airconditioning bathrooms in bunkhouses, phones, showers in bunkhouses instead of a shower room, buildings, rollings hills to pick berries or to have water fight or to play sportsplus raninu has great food

Apparently, Syag Lchochma is not such an outdoorsy person even though she loves going to camp…

Apparently? From where would you draw that conclusion? And how would you know if I love going to camp?

This was indicated by your previous comments other than the loving camp part. When I was a kid I did not like camp but when I was a teen I loved it

I never said anything about being outdoors. I asked you why YOU would want to go to some hick-town camp. As opposed to an East coast camp. I happen to live nearby and made the comment because that is how posters in the past have jokingly referred to out-of-town places.

and btw, I went to sleep away camp starting at age 8 every year through staff years. And for 10 summers we camped with the kids and slept in a tent (until the boys were too old to be in that environment).

So what do you call people that live in out of town places?
