Try keeping it in a container full of rice for three days. Works like wonders. I know for a fact that it works on blackberry’s.

Take phone apart – take out battery. wipe dry what you can. Leave open and let parts dry out completely. If you are lucky it will work again

Always make sure you backup phone/palm regularly to avoid unecessary agro.

First TURN IT OFF RIGHT AWAY AND KEEP IT OFF!!!

    I can’t stress that enough.

    Here’s what I did.

Take the whole thing apart (you may need a special tool called a Torx Driver, for that you’ll need to go to your local Home Depot). After each piece is removed wrap it in a napkin or paper towel. There will be some places where you won’t be able to reach with a napkin or paper towel, for those hard to reach places I used a hair drier to evaporate the water. Do not hold the components in your hand while you do this, place it on a hard surface and wait until the piece cools off before picking it up. Skin will burn much sooner than water will evaporate.

This worked for me, I hope it works for you too.

Calm down, it happens! Just follow these directions and you’ll be okay!

Take the battery out and let it dry off for at least 12 hours.

Keep battery area on the phone open as well for 12 hours.

Don’t put in a dry battery in earlier to try it out, you will harm the phone.

    Good luck!

thanks for all the tips! MEPAL why in rice, is it supposed to adsorb the water? & DR.PEPPER i’m not going to be that brave & take it apart but maybe i’ll try blow drying it.

Debby, take out the battery and put the battery and phone separately into rice for three days.

*WARNING* Does not work for all phones. Two people I know had the same phone, one it worked for and did not work for the other.

I just discovered it may only work for blackberry’s. Sorry.

    Debby-

I wouldn’t advise blow drying it without taking it apart.

    I once heard a piece of advice from someone after witnessing him take apart an expensive electronic item and making some modifications;

“Don’t ever let yourself be intimidated!”

I’m pretty sure it will explode if you try blow drying it without taking apart. You may as well put it through a curling iron.

Cool. I wasn’t sure it worked with other phones. I only had proof with BB’s but I’m really glad it worked with yours too!

Does anyone know the sevara (understanding) of how rice out of all things gets it to work after being in water?

Go ask your Rabbi. Or maybe your Rosh. Or the mashgiach. They could probably help you with your question.

I’m sure we could get a much more interesting conversation by hypothesizing that it has to do with Ashkenazim avoiding rice on Pesach due to its water-absorbing qualities.
