Always_Ask_Questions – qwerty613 lives at 200 East End Ave Apt 2e. At our Manhattan shul, everyone knows him to be a meshugana (plus a complete am ha’aretz – he wouldn’t know even how to open a gemarah or shulchan oruch, his highest level of learning is reading the English Me’am Lo’ez). I saw the kitchen in his condo, and no ben Torah would eat from it (one sink, counter and oven used for both milk and meat). Even his wife (of Safardi-Persian background) openly says that he is meshuga and begs him to stop denigrating gedolim and mosdos haTorah because of the many bad things happening in their life and family. His son davens in an Open Orthodox shul with a “rabbi” who speaks against halacha. These are facts!

And you can visit his dental office at 65 Columbia St. It is a filthy place (see the pictures on Yelp!). Google says his office is open on shabbos (9:30 am – 6 pm – I guess he “davens” netz on shabbos, so he can get to work in time!). When confronted with this fact, Sheldon Stern tried to justify that “maybe” he has other workers/associates, but that is false (as most things he writes); he is a sole practitioner, with no other workers running his office; in fact, he usually answers the phone himself.

I have to agree with AAQ here. How is this allowed? To post someone’s name and other personal info? I don’t think it matters if it’s correct or not. This can’t be allowed – and he’s been posting it over and over again.
Mods, why is this allowed to be posted? This should be removed, and gornit should be banned from the site for posting things like this.

DaMoshe, you have it all wrong! How does YWN allow qwerty613 to post comments that denigrate gedolim and mosdos haTorah? I am exposing him as someone who does not belong to have a voice on a yeshiva platform! You think that someone should be allowed to write on YWN the obsenities he writes?! What is wrong with YOU?! Do you realize that he writes, among other things, against Chabad, the Lubavitch Rebbuh z”l (as someone who goes against halacha and a baal gaavah sel-proclaimed king), R’ Moshe Feinstein z”l (as having demtia and his psokim are unreliable), Adirei Torah and Dirshu (as ego-stroking ostinatious extravaganzas), Keren Olom HaTorah (as a scam to line pockets and discrimination by giving only for excluside yeshivos), Roshei Yeshivos Harabbonim Malkiel Kotler (as an ani-vaxxer rotzeach), Elya Brundy, Dov Launda and Moshe Hillel Hirsch of Slabodka, Dovid Cohen of Chevron (calling them scammers and fakers and worse etc). YOU THINK THIS IS OKAY?! I exposed this Sheldon Stern (actually, it was a group of high-tech Stamar chevra – kol hakavod to them!!) and everyone should know what he is all about!

DaMoshe, b’mokom chilul Hashem ain cholin kovod. When there is a chilul shem shomayim (denigrating gedolei yisroel), we do not stand on ceremony and political correctness. U’bi’arta ha’ra mi’kirbecha (we must eliminate the evil from our midst) by exposing it and exterminating it. Are you for kovod shomayim and kovod haTorah or against it? Pick a side.

DaMoshe, when you protect qwerty613, you encourage Sheldon Stern to continue being mevazeh gedolei yisroel. Is that what you think should be done? Sheldon Stern should be banned from YWN, as he was banned from VIN for continuously making his obscene comments against Gedolei Ha’Dor. In proper times, he would have been placed in cherem, and his status of cherem would have been proclaimed publicly. That is the proper approach. You need to reset your moral compass.

Gornit: What is the docket/case number for the lawsuit against Dr. Sheldon Stern for defamation on comments on frum sites? I searched his name in federal and NY state courts and didn’t find any such lawsuit.
Perhaps Gornit is just making this up? And maybe Gornit is the one defaming? I don’t know Sheldon Stern but Gornit probably does and has a bone (or broken tooth!) to pick. Or maybe Gornit is just an AI bot, because it makes up plenty.

chiefshmerel, I am not privy to the details of the lawsuit, if it has already been filed or if a Statement of Claim has been served. The information I have is from multiple comments on VIN, the lead attorney Ms Rachel (I don’t know her secular first name) Herman ESQ, and more reliably, the owner of VIN explaining the reason he banned Sheldon Stern to avoid being dragged into the litigation and liability of offering a platform for publishing the defamatory comments. Sheldon Sterndoes not deny publishing obscene comments against many gedolim and the Olom HaTorah, in fact, he is proud of it. Such comments have no place on a frum website. They go way beyond loshon hara, it is allowing a bezoyon haTorah.

There seems to be something in the water in lower east side…

To salvage something ftom this craziness, it is very entertaining to see the new frumkeit measuring sticks: number of sinks and ovens. By these standards, I am afraid poster’s greatgrandma was also a shiksa.

    To SaMoshe and chiefshmerel

Thank you for calling out that pschotic pathological liar. I commented last night on your posts in a different thread; ujm’s Lubavicher hats. You can see what I wrote. I’ll just add, that it’s also lied that I’ve been banned from VIN. I post when I feel like there but I prefer YWN.

    To the real charidy

Gornit is not Chabad. He’s a former BMG student who left the religion and fell in love with Chabad because Manis Friedman announced that Jewish sinners are no longer punished . Gornit takes that as a Heter to do any Aveirrah he wants. There is no rift between him and me. About a year ago I started posting on VIN that Manis Friedman is a Kofer. Gornit who used the name BMG guy came to his defense and then started slandering me. Since I have always said, on YWN nand on VIN tthat I’m a frum dentiast from the Lower East Side, BMG guy got my anme and personal informatikon and began slandering me. because of his devotion to Manis Friedman and Chabad. I have no idea who he is and of course I have never done anything to him. This is absolute sinas Chinam. For more information please see the thread of ujm called Lubavicher hats. I spell things out there. Please feel free to ask me any questions. I am a Yirei Shamayim. and I have done nothing wrong.

    To always

This is not a Lower East Side thing. I no longer live there and gornit, as I understand, is Satmar. He keeps writing about some coop in Manahattan that I own and he implies that we go to the same shul where the people callme crazy. It’s an outright lie. Occasinally I spend Shabbos on the East sSide by friends but generall I don’t. He’s a pathological liar.

The liar Gornit still has not established a connection between Dr. Sheldon Stern and Qwerty613, or any other commenter on any site. I know nothing about Stern and his relationship with Halacha, but do know enough about civil procedure to know that civil lawsuits in the USA are always public by the time they are served. And as there is no lawsuit against Stern for any form of defamation, Gornit is the one who obviously has a bone to pick. More with Dr. Sheldon Stern than anyone else, though it is admittedly a pretty effective excuse to use when Gornit knows most people don’t fact check. Not to mention that Ms. Rachel Stern ESQ (sic) sounds like a name pulled out of a hat, as there is no barred attorney in NY by that name.
Gornit, if Dr. Stern hurt you, sue him directly. Though you’ll lose, you threw out your case when choosing to defame him.

As another recent example of qwerty613 disparaging accepted gedolim on YWN, here are his words about the marbitz Torah and great rov, R’ Avigdor Miller z”l, in the thread “Chabad Shows Up Where the Litvish World Won’t” #2560043 qwerty613: “Why are they so blind? It’s hard for people to admit that they were wrong. And this includes great people like Rabbi Miller and Rabbi Sacks. They had all the evidence, but they refused to accept it.” This nut job Sheldon Stern puts Rabbi Avigdor Miller z”l with Rabbi Johnathan Sacks O”bm and says that “they are blind”, that it is “hard for [them] to admit that they were wrong”, “they refused to accept it”. WHAT A CHUTZPAH! (But this is all MILD compared to the obscenities about other gedolei hador!!!)

To qwerty613: I’m very sorry if I sound like I am accusing you but are you Dr. Sheldon Stern? And if you are why does it say online that your office is open from 9:00 to 6:00 on shabbos. Also why does it say online. “Public discussions and community reports indicate that a defamation and slander lawsuit was reportedly filed against Sheldon Stern (also known by anonymous online usernames) in New York. The $30 million lawsuit was initiated by individuals and organizations—including Chabad—due to derogatory comments allegedly made online against community leaders and groups.”

querty613 also claims that he “only” bashes Chabad and not Gedolei Yisroel, Rabbonim, and marbitzei Torah. Well, let’s look at his comments. A recent comment on YWn demonstrates otherwise. On the thread: “Chabad Shows Up Where the Litvish World Won’t” comment #2560043 qwerty613 wrote disparagingly against a great marbitz Torah and rov, Rabbi Avigdor Miller z”L. He called him “blind”! He said that it is hard for Rabbi Miller to admit when he is wrong! That he refused to accept the evidence! What a chutzpah! Here are his own words: “Why are they so blind? It’s hard for people to admit that they were wrong. And this includes great people like Rabbi Miller and Rabbi Sacks. They had all the evidence, but they refused to accept it.”

GOOD NEWS TO THE TORAH TZIBUR: B’H qwerty613 has been blocked from YWN for being mevazeh Gedolei Yisroel and mosdos HaTorah, and spreading his evil words of tumah on the forum of a frum website. I would like to chime in. I don’t think people should be embarrassed by name publicly. I also don’t think that people should embarrass others publicly. We have a Torah and we must live by its ideals!

Concerning the person mentioned earlier, I can attest that he is a Shomer Shabbos. He also has tremendous reverence for Rav Moshe Feinstein and his 2 sons Reb Dovid and ybl’c Reb Reuvain. If Google says that his office is open on Shabbos, it is obviously a mistake.

therealchaidy – My take on this was that qwerty613 was motzi shem ra on various Gedolim, gornit pointed out the obscene comments and put a stop to it. Kol hakovod to him.

Litvishe Fellow – we all know that במקום חילול ה’ אין חולקין כבוד, qwerty613 was blatantly being mevazeh talmidei chaochomim, behind their back (I don’t expect that the Gedolim should respond to attacks, like a response from R’ Malkiel Kotler. likewise. those that are in Olom HaEmes like R’ Avigdor Miller z”l and the Lubavitcher Rebbe z”l and others). A person posting such vile trash against Gedolim is far worse than any michalel shabbos. As far as your bald claim of being a “musmach from many Rabbonim”, so were the supporters of Korach, they were roshei sanhedrin, and spoke out against Gedolei Hador, Moshe v’Aharon.

Litvishe fellow’s chiming was misguided and inappropriate. By saying: “I don’t think people should be embarrassed by [exposing their] name publicly. I also don’t think that people should embarrass others publicly”, he tactfully agrees that qwerty613 can deride others, even denigrating Gedolei Yisroel by name, BUT no one should embarrass qwerty613. After all, HIS honor must be protected, as he tramples on the honor of our Gedolim. This is so illogical and misguided. But then Litvish fellow adds, “We have a Torah, and we must live by its ideals!”, as he tries to anchor his words in Torah. As someone who makes the bald, unsubstantiated claim of “a Musmach from many great Rabbonim”, one would expect him to know basic halacha, that if someone is talking in shul, one may publicly embarrass the offender to silence him. How much more so, when someone is constantly publishing comments that deride, slander and ridicule Gedolie Hador, there is an OBLIGATION to publicly silence the offender who is being mechalel shem shamaaayim and being mevazeh Gedolim. I write this simply to show that the misguided comment of Litvishe fellow actually raised a doubt about his claim of being “”a Musmach from many great Rabbonim”, in fact, adarabah, it points to “am haratzus”, ignorance of halacha, and Torah values and ideals.

Here’s my proposal: This platform should be kept to halachic guidelines, and it should be anonymous.
If someone sees a person breaking a guideline, they shall be mature about it and report it to ywn. I do not think it’s right to call someone out by their name, because it could be false and sometimes (usually) with neguyos.

AAQ, Here is the psak you requested: Shulchan Aruch HaRav 156:8 “All of the above applies when the sin was done privately. But if the transgression was performed publicly, one should rebuke him immediately [i.e. even in public] so that the Name of Heaven not be desecrated.”; Admur 608:5 “If the sin is committed in private, he should initially be rebuked in private; if he does not abandon his ways, one embarrasses him publicly until he repents. However, if the sin is committed openly and publicly, he is rebuked immediately, so that the Name of Heaven not be desecrated.”; Semak 112; Rashal; M”A 608:2; M”B 608:10. RELATED: Shulchan Aruch HaRav 156:4 “Therefore, one must rebuke those who are talking while the chazzan is reciting Kaddish, even if there is a minyan of ten listeners without them who are paying attention and focusing on the chazzan.”; 124:6 “And one should rebuke those who study during the repetition of the Shemoneh Esrei (Chazaras HaShatz) or who recite personal supplications at that time.”; Michaber 124:7 “One should not engage in mundane conversation during the repetition of the Amidah by the chazzan; if one does speak, he is considered a sinner, his transgression is too great to bear, and he should be rebuked.”; M”A 124:7; Vavei Hamudim Amud Havoda 10; P”M 124 A”A 11; M”B 124:27; Shevet Halevi 10:13; Piskeiy Teshuvos 124:7; See Tur 268; Sefer Chassidim 558; Beir Heiytiv 56:1

A bit more on the subject, from Rabbeinu Yonah, Sha’arei Tshuvah, 3:143-8:

“…one who shames Torah scholars cheapens the word of G-d, and has no share in Olam HaBa….the way of Kiddush Hashem is to express with every utterance, with every hint of the eye, with every movement and action, that the foundation of man’s life, his greatest glory, his good, his essence, his benefit, and his worth, is the service of G-d, His fear, and His Torah….This is the honor of G-d.”

“And those who defame Torah scholars, and His fear, negate this idea, and demonstrate the opposite with their conduct, as if to say that Divine service is not essential, but honor and glory are due to success in worldly affairs, and fundamental things exist other than the service of Hashem. They desecrate the Torah….”

Sanhedrin 99b explicitly identifies one who shames a talmid chacham as a category of person who forfeits their share in the World to Come (Olam HaBa) . The Talmud also warns that this sin is the ultimate cheapening of God’s word.

The point is, AAQ should worry about preserving the honor of Talmidei Chachomim, Gedolim, the Torah and Hashem Himself, rather than lamenting about the pride and honor of a sinner who desecrates Shem Shamayim and Kovod HaTorah v’Lomdeha, lest he be embarrassed by being exposed..

AAQ probably has complaints about the torah for speaking loshon hara about Korach and publicly embarrassing him. OMG, the Torah even names him! I suggest that a person like AAQ must flee the shul when parshas Korach is leined, to avoid hearing such loshon hora about his hero Korach. Maybe take the Author of the Torah to a din Torah in the Bais Din shel Maalah (although that would require a departure from Earth).

    #2567790

YYA, original poster expressed his opinions and sometimes quoting private conversations with public people. Any reasonable person can go, read original writings, and also make decisions about veracity of his stories. I would not be surprised that some of his posts did not make it through on this site.

So, his writings are a side product of the somewhat productive discussions we are having here. It is just an issue of where to draw the line. At the same time, the faker adds no value to the discussion, except being a subject of it and focuses his effort on destroying a person.

    A couple of related issues:

    – R Salanter chastised an Yid who was fighting with someone: you did two wrongs: 1) hurting a fellow Yid 2) misusing your energy – you could have done something productive

    – the question of aveirah for mitzvah: something to do with Korach followers and becoming prevalent in modernity, from Shabtai Tzvi to communists.
what is remarkable in this case – the person clearly recognizes authority of halakha but has no concept of beis din and decides to act based on a sefer.
But I bet he is careful on cholov yisroel, to tie into the other discussion 🙂

Even a “freethinker” like me went to a rov when a “frum” driver bumped into my family members (and showed no remorse). Even as the rov allowed/even encouraged me to take a legal action against the individual, I decided not to.

Korach was actually his name! Maybe his YWN username was qwerty613 but his real name was Korach! Indeed, Meforshim explain that the reason why Korach sinned is directly connected to his name, that his father Yizhar, named him Korach, a name found earlier in Torah by the offspring of Essov and his wife Aholibamah .

Also, in the Torah there is plenty of so-called “loshon hara” about Doson v’Aviron, and gasp, they are named by name. OMG, how terrible to embarrass them publicly like that! (Sarcasm). Those that are “bothered” by it, can edit their sifrei Torah and hide the names of Doson v’Avirom with usernames like Qwerty613 or Always Ask Questions, to prevent מלבין פני חבילות ברבים.

Behavior he was reacting was not a one case, but a repeated thing. But let’s say he saw something that requires a response. First, he could have started his rebuke with one normal objection, while then asking a shailah what to do if there is no response. B’dieved, he can also ask a shailah what does he need to do now.

In his defence, he might have thought that these posts will not pass moderation, so he would fulfil his part without any consequences.

    > I suggest that a person like AAQ must flee the shul when parshas Korach is leined, to avoid hearing such loshon hora about his hero Korach.

This is the source of confusion – thinking that you yourself can do same judgment. With this attitude, I suggest you don’t show up at your local reform temple during Parsha Pinchas – they often have tight security and can discover your spear. This will get in the news and we will know who you are!

But parsha Korach is one of sources for discussing averah l’dvar mitzvah. Not sure about Korach himself, but surely some of his followers. Here is what our group was learning: this issue was treated as a mundane halocha for centuries – until the time of Shabtai Tzvi when this became a mass thing. It became even more so later on, culminating with movements that are ready to save humanity by destroying millions of people … R Chaim Shmulevitz said that he can give a public dvar Torah on any topic except three, averah l’dvar mitzvah being one of them. The reason: we don’t want people to try doing it on their own.

    #2568051

?coffee? > To answer for NAA, even though it seems like we’re on “no speaking terms”

Did I fail to answer your inquiry? excusez moi, maybe I skipped some of the discussions that did not make sense to me.

From modern perspective, there is no problem at all. Korach was a public figure, and so were his rebellion and punishment. Imagine NY Post headline – “whole neighborhood GOES DOWN. Pictures inside”. And Tanach overall is very consistent about relaying shortcomings of Jewish leaders, whether they are generally tzadiqim or not.

?? Coffee addict- although all the classical meforshim say that his actual name was Korach, and indeed, point out that he became a Rosha davka because he was named Korach, a name of Essov’s son, however, I did see a pshat that originally his name was Korach with a vov, equal to shin-daled-yud, and Moahe removed the vov changing it to Korach without a vov. (Like, qwerty.613 with a period vs qwerty613 without a period). You may be confusing with R’ Akiva that was called Korchasa (literally he was called “Baldy”, a derivative of the name Korach) as a nickname because he lacked hair follicles, see: תוס’ במס’ שבת קנ. ד”ה ורבי.

But even if you believe Korach was not his real, how would you justify the Torah’s public shaming of Dasan v’Avirom by naming their names? Unless there is absolutely wrong with publicizing the names of reshoyim.l!

The passuk in shemos calls them reshaim ״ויאמר לרשע למה תכה רעך״ because they were hitting each other over here the only thing qwerty did was disparage the Rebbe (his parts dealing with Rav Avigdor Miller i don’t think reached that level but we can disagree on that) I know Lubavitchers that disparage Rav Shach but I don’t think they should be blocked from posting if they wanted to

gornisht> how would you justify the Torah’s public shaming of Dasan v’Avirom by naming their names?

note that when Yehoshua reports to Moshe that these two are prophesizing outside the camp, Moshe is surprisingly OK with the challenge to his auhtority – he’d love everyone to be a navi!

    NAA,

Are you confusing אלדד ומידד with דתן ואבירם?

CA: If they disparage Rav Shach, they absolutely should be blocked.

    How could you imagine otherwise?
