now its actually getting dangerous! there’s a lot of lightning & thundering but no rain, lots of snow! the winds are like tornado winds & the snow is just accumulating rapidly!

Dangerous but awesome last night. We just sat by the window watching the blowing snow – and I mean BLOWING, and hearing and seeing the thunder and lightening. What a combination. As of this morning, I believe we have well over a foot and are expecting a few more inches. First time in 12 yrs they actually closed schools here.
thanks for the visual gefen reminds me of the storm of 79 we were off of school for a week and played in the snow all day making tunnels and sledding it was an awesome week.
awesome! looking out the window, everything is covered! totally white out conditions. i would say tho, it was worse earlier this morning. now its just flurrying and def not as windy as last night, but they say this blizzard won’t end till 3. altho, i wouldn’t call it a blizzard anymore (then again, what do i know) there’s a lot of snow on the ground already, not so much falling.

it is perfect family time!!!!!!!!!!! just made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies & hot cocoa 4 my father & brothers who have been shoveling since early this morning!!!!!!!! the snow in some places is over 5 ft high!!!!!!!! (for example my own backyard!)
so when NY was expecting 20 inches it made every news website 24/7. we just got 19 and it seems to be business as usual (except all the schools being closed) I couldn’t even find a final tally anywhere until I literally googled the question.

Ok, Gadol Hadorah is jus a little gaava, but are we allowed to call a person by such a derogatory name?! I believe halakha is that you don’t use such names even if the person himself uses it. So, just say “Chicago Mayor”

Actually yes. Was trying to replace air filter in the attic HVAC unit and stood up too quickly a few days ago. But my comment about “Her Honor, Mayor Lightfoot” was intentional about her having a lightheaded moment when she claimed that “we cannot arrest our way out of this wave of shootings”, and the only solution is to pour more money into social programs in low-income neighborhoods so they will stop shooting one another. While I agree that more funding in community development, job programs etc. is needed over the long-term, they need to stop the hemorrhaging now or there won’t be a “long-term”. That means flooding those neighborhoods with law enforcement, reopening the courts and aggressive prosecution and incarceration instead of the inner city versions of “catch and release”. And yes, this is coming from your resident CR progressive, bleeding heart, left wing, liberal.
Gh, there’s a simple way to test your fellow progressives on sincerity of their concerns about the poor: education. They should be in the front of the movement to test school performance, close non performing schools, open charters, if not vouchers for private schools. If they do not, then they care about politics, not poor people. Side note: president is proposing flat federal budget for charters among adding money for everything else, House changed it to reduce amount.
