bdieved is this ok? Or Practically there for sure will be tznius issues? most people at course will be frum, mistama dressing tzniusdikly. This would be the most kosher first-aid course in our out of town community – but is it l’myseh kosher?
May 17, 2012 8:18 pm at 8:18 pm #875259shmoelMember100% treif. You can find non-coed.
May 17, 2012 8:40 pm at 8:40 pm #875260takahmamashParticipantDo you not have a rav to ask?
May 17, 2012 8:41 pm at 8:41 pm #875261MorahRachMemberI get re-certified all the time so I have taken courses a lot. The only thing that I can think of being untsnius would be when the instructor is on the floor demonstrating chest compressions. If that. You are being taugh life saving measures. If it is mostly frum people going chances are you won’t be exposed to anyone dressed in appropriate , and when you pick a partner to practice the heimlich make sure to pick a man.
May 17, 2012 8:54 pm at 8:54 pm #875262apushatayidParticipantDoes your out-of-town community have a Rav?
May 17, 2012 11:33 pm at 11:33 pm #875263HealthParticipantIt’s probably better to take it with Goyim in some college than with Jews that is mixed company. But, I’m not Paskening.
Just curious, obviously this was arranged by Frum people -so why didn’t they arrange it separately -like a male & a female course?
May 18, 2012 1:17 am at 1:17 am #875264Sam2ParticipantThere is probably no inherent Issur (depending on the precise situation), but everything must be done with Sechel. This feels like a lack of Sechel.
May 18, 2012 2:04 am at 2:04 am #875265WolfishMusingsParticipant100% treif
Sigh. I remember when I took the EMT course at Brooklyn College years ago. Yes, it was mixed. Yet another reason, I suppose, that I’m doomed to eternal damnation.

I never took a course there in anything. I didn’t even know they had an EMT course. But I’ve taken these courses in NY at other places.
May 18, 2012 11:47 am at 11:47 am #875269Ctrl Alt DelParticipantBwaaahaahaahaahaaa!!!!! Hello? MARS desk? Yeah its 93-J. Yeah we have a crew. If you need us we’ll be at Kosher Delight. I totally forgot about those ems designations.
May 18, 2012 9:55 pm at 9:55 pm #875271truthsharerMemberGoing to KD in the bus was the only way to go. Otherwise we’d circle for hours finding a spot. Fun times, I remember calling MARS on the .000000000001% they would actually call.
