What are the hours, phone number, and how much does he or she charge?

I used to know two good ones. One was killed, and the other one was so upset about it that he jumped out a window.

Well, that just had to happen, didn’t it. 🙂

Disclaimer: I have not seen that film, and even if you did, you

probably should not acknowledge the fact.

Being killed is the beginning of the story, not the end.

    There’s that teleconference guy…

Though mishaps can happen. There was an article in a major Jewish magazine about how the Skype for the exorcism and a long-distance shidduch date got mixed up. Pretty horrifying results.

So maybe I would stick to an in-persona consultation so that only the mekubal needs to see your head turn all the way round.

(Randomex: Happens to be I haven’t seen the movie, it’s just pretty well known. I have seen Psycho, though, which is awesome.)

Randomex: The film is quite famous, though I have never seen any of it. I don’t even know the plot, which is surprising. Supposedly it’s a classic and credited with creating the post-Hitchcock horror genre. However, the concept of exorcisms existed long before the movie.

    But not long after.

No, no Haleivi, that was an obstetrician you needed, not an exorcist. (you’re not sleeping??)

If we believe in the concept of a dybbuk, then we believe in exorcism, too.

You don’t need an exorcist, you can just buy a treadmill.

Does this mean HaLeiVi gets a mazel tov?

    @DaasYochid – I guess that’s how ghosts get their exorcise. 😛

Sam2: I was referring to DaMoshe’s direct reference, not assuming

that HaLeivi’s mention of exorcists could only have been inspired by the film.

I am expert at getting clogs out of pipes, to see if I can help you ask the mod to contact me off site.

Randomex: I made a direct reference as well without having seen the fil (and also got DaMoshe’s). It’s sort of bled into the pop culture.

Randomex: I didn’t know that was a reference to the movie. I actually thought it was a reference to the Chozeh MiLublin’s death.

Sam2: I thought the legend of the Chozeh’s death was that he was somehow thrown from a window while attempting to hasten the coming of Moshiach, not that he was upset about another tzaddik being killed and jumped.

    He wasn’t Niftar then.

Yes, I know. The fall was on Simchas Torah, and he was niftar the following Tish’ah b’Av. (Right?)

    Actually, is that story historic?

If you tend to believe Tzadikim and don’t suspect Baalei Ruach Hakodesh of lying, then I guess so.

Randomex: He supposedly fell out a window. The Chassidim say it was fighting Shaeidim. The Misnagdim/Maskilim said it was because he was depressed. Either way, though, it’s a good parallel to the post.
