Ever win anything BIG? In Chinese Auction or lottery?
How big is considered BIG? I once won a pair of diamond earrings for my wife at a chinese auction. They’re worth well over $1,000.

I don’t participate in Chinese Auctions very often — perhaps no more than a dozen times in the last twenty years (and even then, we don’t spend a great deal).
We’ve won twice — one time I won a Megillas Esther. The other time I won a sheitel.

Truth to tell, the sheitel went to Eeees. I guess that’s only fair since I pretty much took exclusive possession of the megillah. 🙂

We once won an Artscroll Shas which was really nice cause even though ive been organizing chinese auctions for years we never won anything. Then we won an ipod which was a hugh headache. Try splitting one ipod among 11 kids! Even my married ones were calling to claim it! But it was nice to win somethning for a change.
We never wwon anything (unless you call a bathtub toy set – the door prize, something BIG!)
Sacrilege is joking (whether it’s true or not), but I agree. The lottery that I won big in is life. I was zoche to be born Jewish, and raised in a frum home. I was zoche to live many happy years. I won a lot that time.
Those other things seem so small.
We won a sefarim shrank and shofar but never got either. Oh well.

In a school chinese auction I won jackpot which then won me like five or six things, only one of which was what I actually put in for but I’m not complaining 🙂
I learned/use a segula maybe, idk what to call it to write “??? ??? ?????” on the ticket, and really believe it, it helps win a few things.

I won $1 on the first day of the Virgina lottery, some decades ago. (Won $2 on a $1 ticket.) Never bought another ticket.
I won $1.50 on my very first play of a slot machine at Foxwoods casino. I decided I liked coming out ahead, and didn’t put any more money in the machines.

What do you mean you never got them? The organization just refused to hand them over after you won them???

I played many hours at a roulette table using the system of progressive gambling. I came out ahead, and have no reason to think I couldn’t do it forever and come out ahead.
To be fair, it is more boring than any regular work, and I didn’t win very much since I was only winning 1.50 on each spin which I won. I couldn’t just bet more, since in this system, you end up betting exponential amounts to your original bet.
The system is that you play on a 50-50 chance(or 53-47), so I was betting on half the board. Each time you win, you bet again the same amount. Each time you lose, you double, and continue doubling with each loss until you win. Statistically you will win every other roll, but it often goes many times without a win. As long as it never gets to an amount which you are unwilling to bet or to the table limit, you will eventually win and be up another original bet.

I’ve won numerous tickets to hockey and basketball games, though I’m not a fan.

B’H– 2 yrs ago I won, @ different Chinese auctions: 2 trips to Colorado, a diamond ring, diamond earrings, a 2 yr car lease on a mini van, $500 Artscroll gift certificate, $500 B&H gift certificate, a sheitel, seforim shrank. 21 volume English Mishna Breurah,a GPS, $250 Step 2 Toys gift certificate,a gift certificate for a free bridal gown rental (& B’H, my daughter got married within the year!!!!– it was a jackpot prize… she wasn’t shidduch dating before that), etc. In the past I had won: another seforim shrank, another sheitel, a leather couch, The ‘Tur’ & many other seforim, silver candlesticks, a child’s bedroom set, woman’s shopping spree, a ‘den’ decorating pkg., a dinette set, a simcha singer’s services (used for my son’s wedding),etc. // for the past year and a half, I haven’t won anything! no complaints… I always say: it’s decided on Rosh Hashana & sealed on Hoshana Rabbah…

I think you’re failing to take the green 0 and 00 into account. Those are the spaces that allow the house to make their money at roulette.

I won 1000 dollars to costco 1000 to banana republic 500 dollars to a jewelry store but the nicest prize was when I came home from the hospital after giving birth to my daughter to get a phone call that I won a sefer torah that I dont remember putting in for.

I won a “trip to LA” which was really a check for $500 and a stay in a timeshare (we used it for the same timeshare in orlando)
