On the day of a gadol’s yartzeit, please post the name of that tzaddik so that we can all know that gadol’s yartzeit.
For Example: Today is the Yartzeit (and birthday) of Don ben Yaakov Aveinu.
It can be gedolim of the previous generation (Rav Moshe, Rav Aharon, etc.) or gedolim of the olden days (Rashi, the Geonim, Vilna Goen and those days, before pre-war Europe.)
Mods, can you please add this to the list of important links in the thread with moderation memos, etc. so people can refer back to this w/o having to look hard for it.

Rav Yanoson zt’l writes that maariv on Friday night is biblical since there is no left over sacrifice done on shabbos.
Something from Ben Ish Chai it says ויחן שם ישראל נגד ההר the Jews rested around the mountain. If you take the letters around הר before and after we get before ‘ד’ , ‘ק’ and after ‘ו’, ‘ש’ making together the word ‘קדוש’. unity brings to holiness and then replace ‘ק’, ‘ש’ with two ‘ר’ gives us the word ‘דרור’ indicating that holiness brings to freedom, the redemption.
Something from Rav Yanoson Steiff zt”l zy”a the story abount the convert who wanted to learn the whole Torah on one leg. What were the two legs? בין אדם לחבירו mitzvos that apply among each other and בין אדם למקום mitzvos that apply between us and Hashem. He only wanted to accept the mitzvos that apply among his fellow men which alone is not sufficiient according to Shamai is insufficient. Whereas, Hilel held that includes everything.
Today, 9 Elul, is the yahrtzeit of the Novominsker Rebbe, Rav Nochum Mordechai Perlow, father of the current Novominsker Rebbe.
Today is כ”ה תשרי the 179th yahr zeit of the Chasam Sofer.
