Where does that minhag come from and how does it go? Can any old fashioned pair of socks be used with any black pair of pants, with the socks simply being placed over the cuffs of the pants? Or is it a special pair of socks and/or pants? If so, what kind of socks and pants are they?

Which other (if any) Chasidim or other groups have this type of minhag? And what other unique dressing minhagim to Ger or other Chasidic groups have? White socks on Shabbos is quite common. What are the various types of hats the different Chasidim wear, either on Shabbos or during the week? And how does the laange rekel differ between different Chasidic groups?

Are neckties a no-no by all Chasidim? Do any frum non-Chasidic groups have unique dressing minhagim for men?

This minhag isn’t exclusive to Gerrer Chasidim.

Is this only for Shabbos or for everyday?

SO when they walk in the muddy roads only their socks get dirty and not their pants. It’s easier to clean and cheaper to replace than pants.

I heard that the open necks and closed pant legs are some sort of kabbalistic thing that the Torah should come in and not fall out.

So your saying it’s stuck somewhere in their pant legs?

Actually, it was the custom of the goyim 200 years ago (and even on the golf course today); they called it knickers and socks. So the gerrer are quite GQ savvy.
