What is the right way to react when you get lost on a date?

Girls, what do you think of people who get lost on a date?

Act calmly, and turn on the GPS.

Actually, every time a boy has gotten lost on a date with me, he was already using a GPS, but a road was blocked.

Guys test girls reaction by pretending to get lost. Girls, you need not only be on your best behavior when he gets “lost”, but if you reject a date because he got lost then you failed the test. He wants to be “rejected” if that’s how you feel. He doesn’t want to marry a picky girl who flips out when someone gets lost.

Avhaben, do you think testing someone like that on a date is ethical? I think it sounds horrible, personally.

It’s not his fault he got lost, the question is, how does he want the girl to react?

I think that getting lost is a real test for both the guyt and the girl. The girl can see what the boys reaction is I.e if e goes crazy or just calmy turns around and same to the guy I.e if the girl gets annoyed or edgy. This is a test to see how the person will react in a stressful or pressured time. It’s a normal thing to get lost remember that!

torah613: Of course it is ethical. That is what a date is all about! You can find out more about your dating partner in one “getting lost” incident than five other dates combined.

Brilliant question. I think he wants you to roll your eyes and say something sarcastic because that would make him feel even better.

WIY: I’ll have to try that next time.

The problem with your suggestion is that he won’t see my eye rolling since he’s looking at his GPS.

I was once lost in downtown Manhattan; trying to find my way to the tunnel through the streets. The girl started getting nervous and wanted to know if we might end up in Harlem!!

Just wondering — is it a violation of the laws of yichud to drive alone with a date?

Is it a violation of the laws of yichud to drive alone with your next door neighbor?

I guess it depends on who you hold by. From a summary I found:

“An important question arises whether driving in a car is considered Yichud. Rav Moshe (Teshuvot Igrot Moshe 4:65:3) rules that one should do his best to avoid driving a car alone with another woman even during the day on well-traveled roads. He reasons that although one is not secluded when driving, he can readily find a relatively private place alongside the road. Thus, since one has such easy access to sin when driving a car, Rav Moshe rues that driving alone with a woman in a car should be avoided except in case of great need. Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach appears to adopt the same approach in his Teshuvot Minchat Shlomo 1:91:21.

However, this makes dating in most circumstances quite difficult if not impossible. In fact, many Poskim disagree with Rav Moshe and rule that traveling alone in a car with another woman does not constitute Yichud unless one is driving in a very remote area or at a time when there are very few cars on the road. These authorities include Rav Mordechai Eliyahu (the former Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel who is a highly regarded Posek in many circles in Israel, cited in Techumin 10:311), Rav Aharon Lichtenstein (in a Shiur delivered to students of Yeshivat Har Etzion), and Rav Mordechai Willig (in a Shiur delivered at Yeshiva University).

Ask your LOR for specific situations bit just learnt the hilchos…next door neighbor is definitely yochid if in a private settig make sure youdriving down roads where at least every 5 min someone is passing same with on a date along as your nt in a private place where noone expected or you brhfeelcomfortavle alone knowing that nooneis going to show up osforbidden!! We learnt that yichud is for our protection /us !!!!
