    Dear choshuveh drivers,
If you are going 70 mph on the Garden State Parkway….the left lane is not for you (hint: if there’s no one in front of you but lots of cars behind you).
Let’s try to always make a Kiddush hashem by being aware of others no matter where on the spectrum we stand!

If you’re going at the full legal speed limit in the left lane you’re doing perfectly fine.

    DY,

The speed limit on most of the GSP, till Lakewood area anyway, is 65MPH. And most of the traffic is at least at 70.

The law in NJ is that the left lane is for passing. It is not meant for staying there the whole time.

Bulbul is correct in that traveling in the left lane at a rate that is slapped than traffic as a whole is wrong, unsafe and annoying, which creates dangerous situations.

    Certainly

DY:I believe he is discussing the sections around when going south from exit 120-89 where the speed limit is 70 MPH.

The law is also that you’re not allowed to exceed the speed limit.

Bulbul, just to be clear, how fast do you think one should drive?

You should be driving as fast as you can without getting a ticket, or create a dangerous situation

Going a few miles over the speed limit is not half as bad as hogging the left lane

There are a bunch of studies that prove that.

He’s complaining about people already going 5 mph over the limit. A few mph more, and you can definitely get a ticket.

Nobody is telling you to drive faster, they are telling you to drive safer. As in get out of the left lane so cars and trucks can stop swerving around you.
You don’t need to be a road cop for the whole parkway. Just get out of the way and let the speeders speed.
You are endangering those who are driving at the speed limit in the right lane as cars trying to get around you are Zipping around at 80-90mph tailgating and swerving.
Stop being so self righteous and get out of the left lane.
P s I am a speed limit right lane guy who gets freaked out as I almost get rear ended by the flyers doing their 90.

Sorry but this is narishkeit. The left lane is for PASSING ONLY so it makes no diff what your speedometer reads. If you aren’t PASSING, you are not allowed to hand out in the left lane. It is DANGEROUS and you WILL get pulled over.

If you get into the left lane to pass someone, make sure you move back to the right as soon as it is safe.

    From AAA:

Generally, the right lane of a freeway is for entering and exiting the traffic flow. It is a staging lane, for use at the beginning and end of your freeway run. The middle lanes are for through traffic, and the left lane is for passing. If you are not passing someone, you should not be driving in the left lane.

I drive well over 25k miles a year. It is the hangers out in the left lane who are the root of accidents!

    Jersey Jew,
Let’s get real here. 20,000 cars heading in to Brooklyn on a 2-3 lane highway and you expect everyone to mostly keep the right lane empty?
    You smoking legal weed??
