If so, what was it like?

It’s like a lion, but smaller.

    Do you have specific questions?

Depends on the age of the kitten, and if it still has to be bottle-fed. You’ll also have to box-train it. It’s better if you don’t let it out to roam around to get hit by a car or pick up something. Your best bet is to go to your local library and ask the librarian to help you find books about cats and raising kittens. You can also try the internet but you risk getting inaccurate info that way.

Just remember that kittens do grow up into cats, so unless you have someone to give it (back) to when it’s grown, find out about grown-up cats too. The best argument is that you’ll never have to worry about mice!

Kittens are a lot cuter than cats…

But cats are better at catching mice (and roaches and whatnot). They’re also playful, affectionate and you don’t have to walk them. But make sure you’re ready to accept the commitment before you get one. They can live up to 10 years and if you get it and then give it to a shelter, it would most likely be killed.

If you’re pet-ready, cats make excellent apartment pets. Just know what you’re getting into so neither you nor the cat have any regrets.

My ten-year-old cats would be outraged at that! They still act like kittens.

    Cats can live 15-20 years.

Sorry, Dovid, I stand corrected. May they have many more years of youthful antics.

The special care that kittens require is the main reason they are often placed in temporary foster homes before they are placed permanently.

RY23 – kudos to you if you’re willing to take care of a kitten. (Just be careful – you may not want to give it up later! They’re dangerously cute.)

RY23 – Have you taken the kitten? How is it going?

    I’m only considering it.

Twice. Technically though, they are “Foster Fails”. They are 7 and 3 now and a part of the family

The house we live in came with cats. We don’t take of them – they live outside. They still manage to reproduce. So we watch many kittens become cats. I guess they still run around the neighborhood or s/o picks them up to take them home.
None of them ever got hit by a car. They cross streets better than some adults I know!

What do you mean fostering a kitten..?
Is it not the same as owning one..
Well we have a cat.. used to be a kitten..
My son actually owns him.. so I do not feel mechuyav to feed him before myself.
He comes and goes as he pleases..we have food and water out at all times..
food is costly as well as the vet visits..
cat came home injured several times which necessitated a vet visit
basically it’s another baby to take care of.
I have no regrets..as long as I am responsible
and we have no mice.. we did find some that cat took care of.. but very few.
    good luck

they are really playful, which means that they rip everything up. scratching posts do not work on all cats, and they prefer to use your furniture. But they are a lot of fun to have around

It is cute when it runs after its tail.

When my cats were kittens, they would often wrestle. Sometimes one of them would become distracted by his own tail and start chasing it. Not a good strategy when you’re in a fight.
