Do Ashkenazim also do Hashkavot (prayer for the departed) or is it only during Yizkor? In our community, a Hashkava cab be recited at any time but is commonly done we someone receives an Aliyah for a Yartzeit.

Same by the Ashkenazim. however, we refer to it as a KEIL MALAY RACHAMIM.

It’s basically a prayer for someone who has passed away. It can be recited at any time. Sephardic custom I guess?
