Sorry Mr. Cain, you got it all wrong. The democrats believe its the rich people fault- all those corporate jet owners- are making the rest of us poor, and its the governments job to make us rich!!

Good sound bite for Cain trying to gain a foothold w/ conservatives but it is pure kefira — after all the Torah says it — kochi v’otzem yadi asa li es hachayil hazeh, if that’s his philosophy he won’t get my vote.

Don’t blame him – he’s a grandparent – over 60. It was unfair to criticize those kids who haven’t had time to learn that what you accomplish in life is a function of your own industry rather than convincing someone else (Dad, Gramps, the government, whatever) to bestow stuff on you. Especially for someone (unlike Mr. Cain, whose parents only had menial jobs) who was brought up comfortably middle class, it’s hard to realize that what you get in this world is largely a function of hard work. All schools, including the frum ones, worry more about the kids’ “self-esteem” than teaching them to work their behinds off.

I can’t fully disagree with him, but part of the reason many of us aren’t “rich” is because we’re forking over an ever larger portion of our hard earned $$$ to the govt

kochi v’otzem yadi is an azhara to trust in Hashem, not to demand a handout!!

What one must know is “Ki Hu Hanosein lecha koach laasos chayil”, and not “Ki Hu Hanosein lecha koach lakachas min ha’osim chayil”

Look my mind is still open to Mr. Cain, but I want this country to remain a malchus shel chesed and unemployment benefits are to my mind a good thing in many ways, and not every person who loses his job is to blame for it. I do not think that realization is too high for a goy, not at all.

littleapple- In that case, would you consider communism a malchus shel chessed? What about Robin Hood?

Why stop at Unemployment Benefits? What about health care? and food? and a home? and education? and transportation? ommon sense needs to kick in somewhere.

Those who are laid off are for the most part not to be blamed at all. Unemployment benefits are a good thing- but not when you can be getting them for over two years straight! There is no longer an incentive to work. For many of the unemployed, the logic is as follows. Why get a $10 an hour job if it means having to go to work, paying for transportation, pay taxes, pay for more child care, if I can just stay home and the govt will pay me anyway?

Slow down a moment and consider some facts before you go off on a rant– An average family man making say $1000-1500 per week and loses his job, top unemployment in NY is 400 per week, do you really think he has no incentive to find work? He is required to look and prove it also to continue collecting. This is also subsidized by his previous employer btw it is called Unemployment Insurance benefits for a reason it is not a pure gov’t handout though the Dept. of Labor administers it.

A president should show compassion so I think Cain erred on that announcement, however, I agree with him if he is pointing a finger at the “entitlement” generation who believe it’s all coming to me…..
