while the points may be valid, the cruelty with which they are expressed here is shocking.

ICOT and some of the others who took me to task. I concede. It should have been done differently, with more consideration. I was incorrect.

Didn’t mean to put the second paragraph in italics

There is no reason to apologize.

He has not apologized for harming people.

Making you feel bad for attacking him is part of his game.

Thank you Popa. He has attacked and harassed people, in real life, not just over the coffee room. There is no reason to apologize for trying to stop him.

tbt: I honestly need no apology for any cruelty on your part. Better direct the apology to the multiples of other posters you falsely associated as one.

it was incorrect the way it was put… it could have been done in a more tactful manner… thats just my opinion

thanks Popa and thank you Mod.

Mod, if so, why was the other thread taken down?

What is all this in reference to?

    #735348

    Joseph: Thank you for responding.

I have one question for you. Shall a person who is not competent in passkening shailos rely on a pissak that Rav Chaim Kanievsky wrote in his seforim? How about a pissak quoted from Rav Chaim? Please answer yes or no.

Rav Chaim explicitly states, many times, not to.

tbt: I have not posted a single comment on the Shira name thread.

    Joseph: Please answer the question.

I have not posted a single comment on the Shira name thread.

You are not trustworthy to make such a statement. If you have no problem lying, and you’ve never come clean about it, what is it that makes you trustworthy over here?

    #735351

    truth be told-

Thank you for starting this thread.

I appologize if my strongly-worded comment made you or anyone else feel bad.

As someone who’s been the self-appointed “mentchlichkeit mashgiach” more than once, I’d like to ask a question that I saw in (I think) a Chaim Walder book:

After someone has finished a conversation with you, do you want them to feel better or worse about themself?

    Please:

    -Be nice

    -Disagree nicely

-Criticize the post, not the poster

    -Refute respectfully

    nicely said ICOT 🙂

TBT: You have not either brought any definite proof that Joseph has posted on the Shira name thread. Choshed B’chseirim applies even to someone who was really at fault on other occasions.

May I ask, why is your attack directed squarely at Joseph and not at the Mods? Joseph could not possibly post any of his hurtful comments alone w/o the Mods actually posting them. And how can a YWN Mod criticize Joseph w/o first criticizing himself in the process?

I feel Joseph is an intelligent person with genuine feelings, who just has a problem with his self confidence; this is why he constantly feels an urge to put down other people through expressing his extreme views.

    mbachur,

why do moderators allow joseph to post?

He has literally dozens of screennames, some of which are “sleepers”, and others with which he posts mild, Torah-true comments to “fly under the radar” until he finds a thread (or person) to ratchet up his game. It can be quite some time before the game becomes evident.

I think speculating about his real-life persona, or what aveiros he is allegedly committing, is out of bounds. Discussing the negative impact on the Coffee Room of specific actions of his in the Coffee Room, or discussing ways to identify or prevent such activity, is fair game.

It seems that Joseph has been behaving himself…

    Or lying low…

Or using a name we haven’t caught onto yet.

Nope. Despite possible beliefs of some to the contrary, haven’t posted.

But this is the i admit i made a mistake thread, so I’ll use it for that purpose. Is it possible to reset the clock? Is it possible for us all to be friends again? Look, I made a mistake and I apologize completely. I shouldn’t have used multiple usernames. I have a reason I felt is very good, but am not going to defend myself; it will only generate further disagreement, and why argue? I’ll concede. After all it is against the rules. It was an error. I also apologize for all and any other wrongs, real and perceived, to the mods and posters. Is there anything worth fighting over? I say positively not. (As far as the hashkofos, they come verbatim from the Gedolim, and frequently are sourced and cited. Some may disagree even vociferously, but that won’t change.)

So, like I was asked last week to stick to one name, I’ll do so. But clearly anything I post as ‘Joseph’, if I opine the sky is blue, will have 2 or 3 posters always disagreeing and saying tke is red. So I’ll choose a new name, unannounced and as of yet undecided what, and stick to it. Just one. Don’t even know when [or if] I’ll have time to start posting again. Is that fair mods?

(And folks if you think you know its me, graciously refrain from announcing it, as the likelihood is anyways you’re wrong about it.)

Can harmony, conciliation, and brotherly love prevail?

Joseph: We definitely appreciate and welcome your call for harmony, conciliation, and brotherly love.

However, you must acknowledge that you have also erred by the manner in which you’ve expressed your opinions in the past. One must be careful to never negate/scorn other people’s opinions while expressing their own. The most basic principle of decency-derech eretz is to show respect for someone else’s opinion even if you vehemently disagree with them. This is how harmony and brotherly love is accomplished and preserved.

Waiting [respectfully] for the “New” Joseph posts to come!
