Whenever I make grilled cheese or frozen pizza bagels in the toaster they stick to the silver foil and I have to then carefully peel off all the pieces of foil that are stuck to my food. Any ideas on how to get around this problem?

    Thanks

use the other side of the foil? Spray/ rub a little oil on the foil first, that should prevent sticking

Aha. Maybe I should try cooking spray…

Cooking/baking spray. Or try parchment paper instead of aluminum foil.

When you eat button candy, you aways end up eating some of the paper.

Try aluminum. Silver is too expensive to eat anyway.

Never use silver foil. Parchment paper only.

Big yesh omrim that aluminum in cooking, the amalgam in your teeth, and Bisphenol in canned goods and glass jar caps is really bad stuff. Do some practical tshuva in the kitchen and have a gezunte new year.

@smartcookie – It’s smart to bake cookies on parchment paper too. 🙂

Use a frying pan to make the grilled cheese. You’ll never go back to a toaster.

Make sure to cover the frying pan with silver foil or a pan cover while cooking the first side. It melts the cheese soooo much better!

Directions? You don’t need no stinkin directions.

But, here is how I do it.

Firstly I use a non-stick pan, if you don’t have one, spray a drop of cooking spray and wipe with a paper towel, or use butter.

Put one slice of bread on the very low flame.

Go to the fridge and take out your cheese.

Optional: squirt some ketchup on the slice in the pan.

Put the cheese on the bread, put the other slice on top of the cheese.

Now it’s mostly up to taste, you need to flip the sandwich once the bottom gets a little crispy and slighty toasted.

Keep flipping until you have the right texture. The important thing is to use a low flame.

I made a grilled cheese in the toaster with parchment paper. 2 problems.

    1. The paper doesn’t fold and stick to the tray like aluminum foil does. It just kind of floats on top.

    2. The paper turned brown from using the toast option on the toaster. Does that mean it burnt and that if I were to toast again it can cause a fire?

parchment ppr turning brown is okay.

WIY- I should have warned you that the parchment paper will be more time consuming. Anyway, so firstly, trim the paper to pan size, that way it cannot float around. If you’re putting it directly on the oven rack, trim to fit the rack.

Placing the paper on the “wrong” side helps it stay in place because it won’t roll up so easily.

Also, the paper will turn brown and you need to replace it after every use. The paper will not burn though.

Also, make sure the paper doesn’t touch the sides or the back of the oven.

you can also put a little bit of water underneath so it stays in place

Another option is to crush, then somewhat straighten out your piece of silver foil (you’ll need a bigger piece). No flat surface means little or no sticking trouble, except for the runaway cheese…
