    why surprise him?

you should know what makes him happy, and give it to him!

Movado watch or if You wanna be a really good wife and get him something that will make him happy for eternity ( not to mention can’t hurt your shalom bayis. Get him an interesting Sefer that he’s never read… Like an easy read type of thing..that he would want to read like once a day,AND MAKE HIM HIS FAVORITE SUPPER( I know that’s what would want)

His favorite supper is a good thought. Also, I would probably Send the kids to play by a neighbor and keep a cake and balloons hidden there and when they come home, they should bring everything with them.( depends on the ages of the kids, though.)

750ml of Kentucky’s finest. Doesn’t matter what brand.

Buy anything with a cork that’s within your budget, and you’ll be fine.

In my experience, it seems that while women prefer not to be surprised (often hinting or asking directly for what they want) most of the guys I know (including myself) would prefer to be surprised. I am of the opinion that the ideal gift should NOT be something the recipient NEEDS and definitely not something he would buy for himself. It SHOULD be something he wants and would enjoy, but would not buy. Either a keepsake (a personalized item with an engraving or picture) or a “toy” which depends on the recipient – alcohol and a nice meal were mentioned, but shouldn’t be repeated too often since a gift that remains for many uses gets more brownie points than a meal eaten only once. Some goods ideas are electronics (digital camera, flash drive, game) a tool for the handyman (be careful not to get him something he already has, or something for his desk to remind him of his family.

nice dinner is great, unplug the phone and enjoy the company together. tea and a nice pie at the end is perfect.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I’m talking about a 20 year old guy. And I recently made a big surprise party for my brother so I need to do something that would beat that… no kids yet!!! I will buy him a present but I feel that I need to do something more than that since I just did something major for my brother….
