If you were the Moderator,what rules might you add?
What (complimentary only) sub-name would you ascribe to the regulars?
When would you allow a poster to get criticized by the others “for his/her own good”?
I’d ban those who attack — especially subtly and indirectly — Talmidei Chachomim.
I’d have a lot of fun reading everyone’s posts!
I would ask to meet the members face-to-face, and if agreed to, act as a shadchan between two members. (either singles themselves or parents of, as appropriate)
I would keep it discreet (both approvals and denials) but that’s the only task I see the mods not doing that they could be doing.
unless it is really offensive, I would not “censor’ anyone….

I would let people disagree but not attack each other by name calling etc.

Note: I wouldn’t ban them permenently, but would consider a cooling off period with an explanation as per why the person was asked not to post for let us say 48 hours.
In addition, I would try to explain why posts are not accepted, at least for long time members. For example, today I posted something that was blocked. I then posted another post asking why I was blocked, giving three options (also blocked). Then another post (I don’t remember the content). Finally I asked the poster who had talked to me to, in a nice way, rephrase their post to omit the offending material. The mods then took down the original post (which I thank them for, it was offensive).
I just wish it was more clear how to reword to make posts more acceptable.
I would use the personal information people post to extort and blackmail them.

I’d return for corrections any post with more than 2 spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, EXCESSIVE CAPITALIZATION AND PUNCTUATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Moshe, if I were a motorotor I’d get dizzy pretty fast.
I wouldn’t censor the comments I didn’t agree with.
For example I personally tried to express my concern and opinion the other day about the tragic skiing accident involving a bocher, which truthfully could have been avoided, had skiing already become defined as an unnecessary dangerous sport risking one’s life, which is no longer to be practiced by yidden.
Yet they removed this. I suppose its stepping on the moderator’s toes, who may love his skiis.

Eclipse, The remark that “myfriend” wrote should never have gotten through the mods and been posted. It was rude and unwarranted and that’s what I mean by talking to the walls. Why do the mods allow it? Why do they edit some and not others? Why do they delete some and not others and why do they NOT post some and do post others? Why are posters allowed to be rude and not stopped from doing so?
Aries: you’ve been rude to talmidei chachomim in general (even without names) which is worse than being rude to another anon poster (especially if it was warranted by her initial arrogance). So it is no wonder you find yourself on the short end of the edit or delete stick so often while others may not be.
Eclipse, thank you I appreciate that. To Helpful, I say prove it or stop it I am tired of hearing this Loshon Horah. And to the moderators I say stop allowing these disgusting attacks to be posted. Please delete!

I’m sorry, but I really don’t see anything “rude” or “unwarranted” about saying that people who “attack” Rabbonim should be banned. I’d go out on a stretch and say that it is not only warranted, but probably a very good idea.

mw13, yeah, if it were true, but it isn’t! For one reason, if I attacked Rabbonim, the moderators would never have posted it! So again I say prove it!
smartcookie, it might be cute to you because it wasn’t aimed at you. I am sick and tired of her attacks and “cute remarks” as well as those coming from “helpful”. It is wrong, hurtful and annoying. I am two months into aveilus for my mother. I am in a lot of emotional pain right now and all these comments really hurt to the core. They are untrue and if you knew how much they hurt you wouldn’t think they were cute!
Each time I write something to ask them to prove it and try to explain what I said, the moderators choose not to post it and that hurts as well. I am almost ready to walk away from this forum. But I do find some comfort here from some of the posters and I do find that I have been helpful and useful here to some of the posters. So I am not sure what to do.

Don’t let it bother you if Helpful didn’t pay attention to his own rejoinder on losing a chelek in olam habo for judging you like this. I, for one, am not willing to judge you based on just his claim.

I would be an expert in hilchos lashon hara and rechilus.
The reason aries’ comments are frequently moderated is because they deserve to be. The mods know what they are doing. She is highly judgemental against yidden, and then chides others for their alleged judgementalism.
yada, yada, yada, Helpful, no one believes you anymore. You are just showing your true colors the more you keep it up. You have yet to prove the loshon horah you say. The only thing you are proving is that you are really speaking about yourself.

I personally like your posts very much. Don’t be discouraged because there are others out there that don’t appreciate them or are insensitive to you. Be strong in believing in yourself and don’t let those that disparage you have any effect on your own self worth.
if i were the moderator i would say that this exchange between aries and helpful is getting too personal and needs to be stopped right now.
If i were the moderater i would put a CR link at the bottom of the page so we wouldn’t always have to scroll up after reading recent posts
