I’m in. anybody else?
Not long after I relocated to a new position at a former employer, a woman at my previous location won a big state lottery (this is decades ago). According to what I heard, she intended to keep on working, but was soon pressured with requests (demands?) for loans and hand-outs by an ever increasing pool of co-workers that she eventually felt compelled to resign.
Kind of sad, but somewhat predictable.
Be discreet about winning a large sum of money.

I just would like everyone in the YWN coffee room to be aware of email lottery scammers.If you get any emails telling you that you have won any sort of money don’t open it.Whether it says the Irish nationlal lottery, or one of the lucky ones to win from a microsoft online drawing.These things are baloney and false.I get alot of these junk emails-I have no idea how they got my email address.
I once spoke someone from security and they informed me that if you ever win anything from a lottery or big money then they will call you by phone-even then you have to be carefull-they will NEVER EMAIL YOU TO TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE WON.
These people that send out the asian lottery and oh yes they make it sound very authentic- call mr sing yang at the_____bank in Tokyo and he will be able to transfer funds into your account.
These people are after one thing your identity so they can Chas Vashalom get into your account.
While we are on the top of scamers be very carefull when buying things online with a credit card.On my father’s credit card statement he got a bill from a bunch of stores in Venezula no one in my family has ever shopped in any stores in Venezuala!We realized that someone must have gotten hold of my father’s credit card online and went on a nice shopping spree.It is safer to pay by pen pal when you buy things online!

ames-Well the first time that I got an email saying that I was the grand winner of the Irish National lottery.i did some research and there is a real Irish National lottery.
However I was a bit skeptical about this.In the email “The Irish Lottery-Fiduciary agent”(anything with Fiduciary I have discovered are crooks)said to cantact a certain person in a bank in england to transefer funds to my accountt.Well I wanted to get to the bottom of this.The next day I called the Bank in England I told them what I had recieved in my email.They said that they know nothing of this lottery and that someone is using their bank name to scam people.They transfered me over to the security of this bank and I was told to foward the email to them.In which I did.The woman at the bank told me and I spoke to a police officer once and they both told me that if you win money you will never be notified by email.
YOu will never guess who had the chutzpah to email me again-The “Irish national lottery”-So on the bottom of the page the “Fiduciary agent” Left her cell number in case I wanted to contact her/I had a problem.
Guess what I did I fowarded her cell number with the email to Security(liverpool)of a bank in London-LOL!
my father won the spanish lottery TWICE! talk about good luck! 😉

There were three jackpot-winning tickets in the May 1, 2009, Mega Millions drawing, which had an estimated jackpot of $225 million. The winning tickets, which are now each worth an estimated $75 million, were purchased in:

I’m winning the lottery one day. I didn’t win this time, but I will maybe next time. I am VERY determined (as if determination will help)

Jax, mods are always happy – it’s in our contract that we need to be. If I remember correctly in is on the bottom of page 34 and the top of page 35 under the category of “demeanor” the first paragraph of the first clause (see how important it is) it is written that Moderators must remain happy, while on the boards moderating, while posting under their moderator name without moderating and while posting under an assumed name not related to their moderating.
72: that’s a great mod rule-i approve it 100%(although my opinion wasn’t asked when the mod book of rules were written!)

Why does winning the jackpot necessarily mean financial? Winning the jackpot can also mean life changing news /decisions that could be viewed as winning the jackpot…
Just thought I’d mention it seeing that everyone appears to be thinking in monetary terms.

Also the title of the thread is quote “Imagine winning the lottery”. The lottery means the lottery not hearing great news.

BYM, by a mega recently, my father bought everyone tickets, Ichose the numbers of my favorite mods (and some others, naturally 72 wasnt in there, too high) and nothing. So much for that…

Aussieboy – Please may I correct you? To win the lottery is also a saying. If you look up the saying you will find it does not refer solely to monetary matters and I certainly did not mean just any good news.
I meant life changing, awesome news; e.g I feel I have won the lottery….. as in the euphoria felt upon hearing the news, monetary of whatever.

I wish there was a way to block all unknown emails coming from unknown emailers!
B”Y I know on yahoo (and maybe hotmail also, I think someone once told me she did this) there is a way to put a block on your account, so if the sender is not in your address book, it goes straight to bulk (spam)
