As someone who works in a Yeshiva i see alot of boys doing things that i would guess they do in the name of being macho, examples smoking ( I’m sure some smoke becuase they like it but i am quite sure that many smoke to seem cool and manly), also going out in winter weather wearing nothing but a shirt often with rolled up sleeves, is being macho ok for a bochur?

This is Macho? This is pathetic. Its pure Gaiva and stupidity, not only are they destroying their immune system (and self worth) by smoking, but they even go out without being properly bundled up which is just asking to catch a cold. Its Kenegged a Gemara Mefureshes which says that Tzinim and Pachim (basically colds and fevers…) are Biydei Adam, that a person can prevent them by taking the proper actions like wearinga coat….

I’m far from a bochur, but if I’m only going a short distance, I, too, will often not bother with a coat. It’s more laziness (ok, that’s not great either) than machismo.

I don’t have a real accurate way to measure machismo, but I can tell you who is strong..
And as far as smoking teens go, can you say, “forrest fire”? No, teens should not be smoking.

I’m with BPT. What the world considers Macho is truly the opposite of what real macho is. The worlds definition of macho if you get to the core of it is an egotistical self absorbed arrogant immoral person that is focused only on himself and doesn’t care about anyone let alone realizing that there’s a G-d, he thinks he is G-d.
The worlds macho men are wimps who are controlled by the swirling winds of their Teivos and can’t resist even small temptations. That’s not Macho that’s a slave!
