The Force is not a religion. The Jedi are, and a pretty messed up one.

There is preetzious in the movies and non Jewish entertainment is not good for the soul
There are plenty of Jewish novels to read and if you want I believe there are some charedi TV shows and movies in Hebrew from Israel.
You don’t know Hebrew? Shame on you🤣

All movies are goyish and assur especially when it’s not tznius and we have a chiyuv d’oraisa-straight from the torah-to be mechanech our children on the right path of Judaism (v’shinantam l’vanecha…..) movies , goyish books and goyish music etc…. (which a lot of today’s Jewish music we know are copied straight from the goyim) is not the way to raise a Torah frum family.

The jedi don’t believe that the force is a supreme being they just believe that the maker uses a force to rule and govern the world. Kind of like the coach hatahorah. The dark side is just like the coach hatumma. The jedi are trying to harness the power of the light side, not worship it.

The idea that the light side is good and the dark side is bad comes from the Jedi.

Excuse me? The Force not a religion? Please allow me to quote from the canonical Fourth Movie in which Admiral Tarkin speaks with Darth Vader and refers to said Force as (and I quote) “hokey religions”.

Mod, why did you delete my comment about Elisha ben Abuya? Is not discussing him a new chumra?

C A, DV was a talmid who delved to deeply into the Force and was trapped by the Dark (Other) Side. It would be interesting to know if there was others. Perhaps one died and another went insane.

Yserbius, Obi-Wan Kenobi describes the Force as “an energy field created by all living things” in Star Wars. In The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn says microscopic lifeforms called midi-chlorians, which exist inside all living cells, allow some characters to be Force-sensitive; characters must have a high enough midi-chlorian count to feel and use the Force [Wikipedia]. This sounds like a scientific principle to me.

If you listen to many of the Chassidishe Maiselach, the Ba’al Shem Tov sounds like a Jedi, complete with force projection.
So maybe Yoda was the Frierdik’e Rebbe?

So something being referred to as a religion makes it one?

That’s the same argument that atheists use to attack religion.

Whats the problem of watching/ reading stuff about other religions?

If the problem is having hana’a from a”z, I can understand. But if its a religion that everybody agrees is not real, is it even considered a”z?

If its because people might start believing in it, I highly doubt that any one actually believes in the Force.

People read the new testament and the quran in order to show how its false. Why is that mutar?

If it is mutar, are they allowed to enjoy it?

Why cant someone watch Star Wars and do the same thing?

IDK halacha, but i assume that reading those fictions to show theyre false (which im sure some say you shouldnt, and if youre young i doubt anyone would be pro) is because of Da Ma LHashiv Lapikores. I dont know if they can enjoy it.

Regardless, noone is doing that with star wars.

The Jedi are a fictional religion. Within the work of fiction they reside in, the Force is real, but the principles of the Jedi belief system are not. To believe the the Force exists outside of Star Wars is not avoda zara, it is extremely foolish mistaken science. (Within Star Wars, the Force is demonstrably real and its existence is generally not questioned.)

@Yeshivishrockstar if LEGO Star Wars is a problem, I will have a lot of angry children and nephews on my hands. None of them have watched or read anything Star Wars related, but they can tell you with absolute certainty how many minifigures come with the Death Star and how many radar dishes are on the Millennium Falcon.

Toys For Thought have had good business selling Star Wars Lego sets to Lakewood residents. 🙂
