You know what we mean, and stop it NOW.
Sure it is…The coffee room mainly, you cant really get addicted to news but a coffee room when you’re waiting for a response is always exciting to see what random topics come up.

I agree with Y W Editor. It is addictive. This can be explained that relative to other sites, for a yeshivish person, there is a much larger percentage and volume of relevant issues and items of concern and interest.
I just put this site, theyeshivaworld.com, on my blacklist with parental controls! No shailas.
Now with Rosh Hashanah around the corner, let us all make a new year’s commitment to reduce our time spent here (and use it productively)!
I’ve got a YWN icon on my toolbar and click in to check out the latest news at least 3 times a day. Sometimes more. Sometimes lots more. It’s great! Am I addicted? Absolutely. 🙂

YWeditor, thanks for pointing out the owner of multiple user names. I was getting very upset at the chareidi world in general because of the level of kannaus here on YW, and was losing faith in the entire movement. I now believe that the extremist posts are mainly one or two individuals who want to stir up fights and excitement, and try to appear as the majority. I continue to believe that most chareidim are sincere and only want to quietly grow in their learning and avodas hashem and ahavas yisroel, and it is only a few hotheads who give the rest a bad name.
Pashuteh Yid: Perhaps all the “kannaim” are individual people and the people whose views you agree with are just one (or few) individuals.

Proud to make the list. I have my busy seasons and my off ones. During my busy times you won’t hear from me at all. During my slow times I enjoy the back and forth with the good people of this site. I’m not on any other site (anymore. though you could dig up lots of stuff by me going back to before some of you were born)

yashrus20, I know you are anti-feminist (perhaps chauvinist; I’ll let you respond to that before drawing a conclusion) but “inner anger”??? I suppose you said that in jest; I don’t find it funny. I happily disagree with you on most issues, and sometimes I can get myself really worked up, but I would never say that I am “angry” with you or even with your opinion. Indignant, yes. Shocked, sometimes. Frustrated, absolutely. But angry? No.
Re addiction, I’m somewhat proud of having made that list (not sure why!). On the other hand (maybe some of you have noticed?) I have not been on YWN quite so often lately. I’ve just been really busy with classes here, and I had to prioritize. I’ve found that once I started placing limits on my YWN time, it wasn’t so hard to refrain from going on “just to check”, as I was afraid I might do. Also, now that I’m no longer on 23/6 or whatever, I also find that when I am on I post less often. That is, I am more liable to read through a topic without posting a response now, whereas before, I usually found something to say to nearly everything. (I do have thoughts as I read about these issues, but I don’t always feel obliged to share these thoughts anymore!) I think this is a positive development. Does the olam agree/disagree?

On an unrelated note, we’ve noticed the level acrimony has gone done considerably, as of late. 😉

I certainly missed your posts. Even though I don’t always agree with you, your posts are always articulate and carefully thought-out, and never angry. If everyone posted as carefully as you, the level of acrimony would decrease considerably. Of course real life takes precedence over the CR though. How are classes going?
You know what your right i owe you an apoligy. Even if i did mean it as a joke, im sorry. Your right we disagree on basicaly everything, but were all yidden and we should treat each and every yid with respect. My screen name is yashrus and if i want my midos to be yashar i have to work on them. So im going to be modeh al emes and say your right (just on this issue nothing else lol :). Im sorry and i hope in the future we can have more productive discourses.
