Or is Chicago well enough established in the frum world to almost be considered as good as New York?

It’s almost as good as New York.

helping yisroel, i’m in west rogers.

cjp- chicago is very established in the frum world (established enuf at least to have our own section in the yated’s “across the fruited plains” lol)

no one should look down on you for who you date. it is none of their business (unless they know of a potential problem that would be reason to consider breaking off, but even then you gotta be careful). it is you building a home with ur spouse, not anyone else.

gotta go to bed. i’m tired. more tomorrow IY”H.

If you live in NY, Chicago is out of town. If you live in Chicago, NY is out of town. Most people are referring to states other than the Tri-State Are when they say out of town, more like the Midwest.

haifagirl – so, you’ve been to francisco. . .how ’bout Richmond? 😉

Never been to Richmond, but I’ve been to Wiliamsburg. (The one in VA, not the one in NY.)

haifagirl – i know this has nothing to do with chicago, but what’s the science museum in haifa like?

The science museum here is supposed to be very good. It’s just a very short walk from where I live. In fact, on Tuesdays my bus stop is right in front of the museum.

However, I’m usually broke. So I haven’t been inside yet. Perhaps I’ll make that a chol hamoed outing this year.

It is very good (or was that the one in Manchester?)

I’ve actually been to the science museum in Haifa and enjoyed it very much.

If she’s pretty enough, it doesn’t matter that Chicago is out of town. If she’s not pretty enough, it shouldn’t matter even if she comes from the hartz shebhartz of in-town and is a baalas yichus, bas talmid chochom, and has all the finest middos. Unless she is very wealthy.

    So what’s the difference?

I love chicago!!! And not just because my grandfather lives there. I used to go to chicago an skokie all the time (then my sister who lived in skokie moved to israel and my family pretty much stopped going to chicago)

Yossi- Who is your grandfather and who is your sister? I live in Chicago and there is a good chance I might know one of them at least by name. You don’t have to say if you don’t want to.

Sort of. My family (or at least my parents) kinda just stopped traveling around. My grandfather and his wife do come at least once a year typically succos time.

My memory may be slightly fuzzy as I think we stopped going when I was on the younger side (before my bar mitzvah) so I don’t know/remember exactly 5WH (who what where when why how) we stopped going
