I suppose I should have considered this when I started posting, but my kids are actually old enough to read the internet now, and they’ve discovered that Papa has written all sorts of odd and funny stuff on the internet.
And I’m not sure how I feel about it.
I don’t really mind them clamoring for them to do all the stuff I promised I’d let my kids do, since I’m more glad that I’m being reminded of it.
But now they think it’s ok to call each other “retard” and “dolt” and “big fat jerk”. I mean, even in situations where where the sibling is not in fact being a big fat jerk, dolt, etc.
What Would You Do?
April 6, 2014 3:44 am at 3:44 am #1010680👑RebYidd23ParticipantI would make them use those words only when posting.
April 6, 2014 3:48 am at 3:48 am #1010681akupermaParticipantDon’t post anything you don’t want your kids to read. Even with allegedly anonymous posts, any competent hacker knows who you are.
April 6, 2014 4:04 am at 4:04 am #1010682popa_bar_abbaParticipantTrue. Sometimes also your screen name can be a good clue. Like if your screen name is popa_bar_abba and your real name is Popa Bar-Abba.
April 6, 2014 4:39 am at 4:39 am #1010683HaLeiViParticipantIs that a Hebreized version of Tatensohn?
April 6, 2014 4:44 am at 4:44 am #1010684DikDukDuckParticipantAt least they don’t know that Papa is Popa.
April 6, 2014 5:15 am at 5:15 am #1010685no longer need seminaryMemberhaha dikdukduck- now they do!!
April 6, 2014 7:53 am at 7:53 am #1010687amichaiParticipantwhat does your wife have to say about the subject?
April 6, 2014 12:14 pm at 12:14 pm #1010688akupermaParticipantAny competent hacker can trace your postings. A teenage yeshiva kid, maybe not. But anyone working for a serious law enforcement or intelligence agency, not to mention a criminal, wouldn’t even be seriously challenged. If you want privacy, don’t use the internet.
April 6, 2014 12:30 pm at 12:30 pm #1010689Veltz MeshugenerMemberI think I know you IRL, so I feel comfortable saying this. I think it’s fine if Chanina and Abba-Mari read it because they are mature enough to understand the original context. But Rafram and the younger ones might take things the wrong way.
April 6, 2014 1:00 pm at 1:00 pm #1010690☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMods, how did you let that post through? VM is giving away personal information!
April 6, 2014 4:07 pm at 4:07 pm #1010691TheGoqParticipantIt’s your own fault for teaching them to read!
April 6, 2014 5:45 pm at 5:45 pm #1010692HaLeiViParticipantVM, most of them are before his times.
April 6, 2014 9:08 pm at 9:08 pm #1010694Bookworm120ParticipantSo they call you Papa, not Popa? Well, I guess that makes sense, since no respectable Jewish kid calls their respectable Jewish parent by their first screen name…. 😛
April 6, 2014 11:20 pm at 11:20 pm #1010695👑RebYidd23ParticipantDo they post?
