The information I’ve seen only lists Italy.

    Derech, what is your source?

    #1142814

I’ve seen the chocolate, they sell it all over the place in E”Y. I don’t know if its really made in Italy or not, but the wrapper looks like its German.

How does it make it okay just because they sell it in Israel??? Do they sell it in frum places? Although sometimes that makes no differece. I notice something with a triangle-K in a store in Geulah and I asked the status of the Israeli hechsher that was stamped on it. The reply: “not so good”, and I told them neither is the original one (the triangle-K). It was still there afterwards.

Those products from Europe have some markings in Ivrit like “beishur harabbanut hareishit leIsrael leochlei (avakat) chalav nochri.” That is how they end up in EY – in Russia I used to see the packages in Ivrit as well and I nearly bought one until I read the fine print.

I’m no expert on cholov akum products, but if Kinder is Ferrero, keep in mind that most Yidden in Europe who are not makpid on CY do eat Ferrero products like Rocher and Nutella.

How does what make what okay? Your question was if it came from Germany and I said it looks like it does. I don’t know what the hechser is because I never bought it. I just know that they sell it all over the place.

Derech, my question was is the kinder chocolate made in Germany reliable kosher? I know they make it in Germany. They also make it in Poland and some other countries and it is NOT kosher.

    #1142819

Oohh. I missed that. I’m sorry. In that case I don’t know. I’m pretty sure they sell it in the frum chain-stores, like Rami Levi. That would suggest that it has some sort of hechser on it. But I can’t say for certain.

Bump. Does anyone know if the Kinder chocolates has a reliable hechsher?

    Thanks

Rabbanut tends to hold by shitot that are correct mikar hadin, but that they never used in America, presumably due to anxieties over approximating the Conservative Movement. (Gelatin, Animal Rennet, Gevinat Yisrael, etc.)

I eat Hersheys in the states, but I literally threw out five hershey bars when I got off the plane this year in E”Y.

You should throw it out-it isn’t good chocolate. It’s bitter. Try cadbury.

Or maybe because the gedolei haposkim in the US held that they are not correct mei’ikar hadin. V’ho raya, these heterim weren’t accepted, AFAIK, in EY, by the hechsherim which are stricter than Rabanut.

Hakham Ovadia Yosef permits gelatin and animal rennet. Is he not a gadol?

It is clear to me that gelatin would meet the standards of a davar hadash.

He is not the only gadol. The halacha does not automatically always follow the meikil.

I love hersheys… I can’t imagine not having it when I get back to the states… I also love ben and jerry’s vanilla cheesecake, ohhhhhh… my yetzer hora returns.

And the largest hechsher in the world is “KOKUSH”- Kulam Ochlim Kulam Shotim” translated- “EEI” Everybody Eats It.

As one who has been a mashgiach for over 20 years, if there’s just (or at least) one thing I hope I’ve learned- Learn and KNOW the metzius before commenting, deciding or “paskening”

Eating things that aren’t marketed as Halav Yisrael but are kosher is no yetzer hara or avera. Most rishonim would say that our milk in America has the din of halav yisrael anyways.

Excuse me, no one is arguing about the kashrut of non-CY cow-milk which is packaged and sold in the USA, but that it has the din of halav yisrael?

Does anyone know if the Hechsher ??? ??? ???????? or ?????? ?????/?????? are good Hechsheirim? They are on some of the Kinder chocolates.

    #1142841

I have seen two types of kinder chocolate. 1)The israeli kind with a hechsher in hebrew lettering that my rabbi approved of and 2) the ones in canada (edmonton) with a mainstream cholov stay hechsher (i think oud) but the ones in the random supermarkets in the us are not at all kosher
