Does anyone know if anything can be done about the insanely high water prices that Lakewood pays for New Jersey American Water, my landlord is paying over 400$ a month, i’m in the basement paying over 150 a month, and meanwhile people in Lakewood under MUA are paying 50$ a month…….
see if there are leaks in the system, then you are paying for rodents drinking that.
Also, many first-time visitors report on height and sickly look of some in-towners. It could be sitting inside and diet, but water might be an issue also.
Find a state report on water quality. It should be published annually.
And find out whether there are old lead pipes anywhere – it could be within the main water system, at the plant, but also going from main to the house.

Shower less and only flush twice a day.
You’re paying for your landlords water usage. There’s no way an apartment is using 150 worth of water a month.
400 a month makes no sense, unless you have a sprinkler system running. I don’t think a tenant is responsible for the sprinkler cost.
My bill which includes my tenant is 250 a month.
There might be a way for you to put a submeter on your water line which will prove that how much your actually using.$400 a month is excessively high, even on NJAW.
How many people are there in your family?
Aside from the questions above, are you taking excessively long showers?With daily baths, a family of 5 in a basement should not be paying much more than $85 on NJAW in a basement.
Does your landlord show you the actual bill? Is he on a payment plan of some sort (Ie. catching up on arrears and sticking you with a percentage of the overall bill, including what he owed for prior usage)?
