areivim I was trying to tell you (a while ago) that on the day you wrote your comment (dont remember exactly, something about my being too tough on moish). you had (have) a point, the day I saw it I had a miserable (repeat if necessary to get the picture) but there was something wrong maybe with the way it was written (I remember the whole night just imagining in my head someone saying it too me in this really awful tone) you hit me at a bad time but what I wanted to tell you was too lighten up the wording. at that point it really, really hurt. in the other thread I was trying to get you to look at this one. this is a weird post, hope it comes through to you with some normalcy. 🙂

    understood perfectly kapusta.

I think you had a very very terrible day that day because my tone was actually pretty light. I hardly ever mean to come across strongly. I usually make it very clear when I’m yelling about something- can’t miss it.

But- nonetheless- I do apologize for hurting you, because that was far from my intention.

    I hope you can forgive?

areivim thats the problem with reading, theres no tone I dont think it was what you said but more when you said it, youre almost completely back on my good side so I guess that means youre forgiven 🙂

btw, the worst of the lot? 🙂

one more thing, I think it was after “this” that I officially made a 🙂 my signature (on my shmoozier with a consultation of ames) so it couldn’t have been all bad :):):):):)

hey kapusta, i have a feeling you’re more than a little mad at me… am i right?

(by the way everyone i just found out that “mad” is the term used for dogs. i never knew it was exclusive! forgive me for using it…)

ames yes I was invited to your house for shabbat. I was trying to find out how chulent was at lunch :):) (2 special for you)

moish I dont get mad I get glad 😉 I cant say I’m mad at you I dont stay mad very long unless some grave injustice is being done then I will stay mad for like more then a few minutes/hours depending on the situation (two I can remember, caused by the same person, one I still get upset about till this day, it could have had a life-long effect and the person who did this was supposed to be “fixing” issues like this) so no I am not mad at you if youre talking about the areivim thing because that was just a hard day and you just got caught up in it (JK!) no, everythings good and everyones happy 🙂 next point, I do have a right to be mad (well maybe not a right but you get the idea) because I was never officially forgiven for “traumatizing you”… cant imagine what else there is to be mad about but I’m not overly experienced at these things 🙂 did I cover the issue you were talking about?

I dont think you want to hear this now, and I’m not trying to traumatize you (really not) but if you are in a bad mood, try davening, usually works…

AOB – there’s actually a science behind that. i think physical activity causes endorphins to be released. (i think it was that chemical) which makes a person happy.

moish am I correct in thinking that you were not in school for chemistry? even I didnt know that and I like it 🙂

    moish smiling does too… 🙂

no, i never took chemistry. i actually should – i’m supposed to be in eleventh grade now.

and what’s even?? i’m sure i know plenty of random that you don’t. what do you think i do when everyone’s at school? (besides for hanging around here and watching stupid movies, that is)

    moish you read chemistry books?

AOB: smiling also makes you happy

kapusta, i read anything with words. i never actually read a chemistry book, but i read encyclopedias and medical books and psychology books and law and history books – basically anything i could get my hands on.

and that’s more biology than chemistry. just in case you wanted to know.

i know, i sound like such a freak. i’m really very chilled.

I guess once youre not being tested on it, it takes out the annoyance of it…although I cant say I ever did anything like that (definitely not law and history)

and it would probably be more psychology than biology 🙂 sorry

kapusta: thanx. yeah, but its easier to smile when you have a reason to. so sometimes it’s not a great starting point (for feeling happy)

moish01: im not sure i understand why you’re not in school. doesn’t seem like you’re completely wasting your time though 🙂 do you ever read fiction?

moish, if you are not in school anymore, are you doing anything to make sure that you are not missing out on the education that you would be getting (obviously the rest of what you’d get in school can be safely left behind)?

Being an autodidact is well and good, but it is probably not sufficient. Tutors?

kapusta, you’re wrong. it’s physiological, not psychological. it’s chemicals in a person. nothing to do with a person’s perspective on anything.

AOB, sometimes. they get boring after a while. a lot of the same stuff and nothing intellectual about any of it. plus i’m lazy to go to the library and we mostly have jewish books in my house (which are not worth the paper they’re printed on) so i just read what i have around here. which is mostly science and history. and i always have google if i get really bored.

squeak, first of all, i have plenty of teachers even if they don’t know it.

for example: what the heck does autodidact mean?? well i just looked it up to make sure i was understanding it from the context.

anyway, what am i missing out on? math and gemara. so i won’t be an engineer or a maggid shuir. i’m ok with those consequences. what else would i need a tutor for?

i think perspective does have a lot to do with it, even if your perspective induces certain chemicals, & thats the actual feeling.

oh yeah, i definitely agree there’s not much out there. its pretty sad. when i was younger i read 24/7 & i can definitely see sometimes where it made an impact on my life. but now its so much harder to find books; i read a fraction of the amount i used to!!!

its the opposite for me, it’s a lot easier to go to the library than to find jewish books (unless i pay for them, which i don’t really want to do from what i hear of the quality). but there’s really not much out there for anyone who actually wants to think when reading 🙁

moish, I take it from your comment that you were suggesting I might be one of your “teachers who doesn’t know he is teaching you”? That’s not really worth that much. But hey, plenty of self-taught people are successful, I just find that it is very rare for a student to train himself without directed guidance. Perhaps a mentor, if not a tutor. But yeah, you could probably teach yourself more than the average American knows without any guidance. Which of course exempts you completely from math and Gemara 🙂

thanks everyone! (besides for joseph) and don’t worry, AOB, i’m cool with it.

AOB, what you’re saying may have truth to it, but go back to where this started. exercise causes endorphins to be released, which lifts a person’s mood. completely physiological. nothing cognitive in that – it’s just a chemical reaction.

squeak, i guess i may not come out knowing exactly what everyone else learns in school, but i can bet you a million bucks i’ll come out with a better secular education that any guy in the entire yeshiva. so who cares? plus they all cheat on regents which (if i do take my regents) i would NEVER do. drugs? yeah. cheating? heck no!

and by the way everyone, i made myself sound like the biggest geek on earth. i’m REALLY not.
