    ah. got it.

what should i do about it? i can’t – it’s too hard and too much to expect. you don’t even wanna know what my weekend was like. i’m an idiot, that’s all. i can’t even go into it. too much, too long and i don’t think the moderators will approve anything that’s not rated G or maybe PG.

areivim, first of all, i think plenty when doing aveiros. and i think i have a mental block – it’s just one of those things i’ll never get. sorry to let you down, but you know you didn’t really believe i was gonna come back with good news. not after being cooped up for a million years. so don’t kid yourself.

and no i didn’t read that thread and i don’t plan on it. dunno why – but i looked at it for a second and felt like my head was gonna explode.

oh wait, is that you screaming? wow you do sound like the red-head guy…

moish- you have no confidence in your potential to improve. Why?

why do you give up so quickly?

and- why won’t you read that thread? You don’t have to read every post- but there is some amazing, PRACTICAL advice there. Why don’t you want to help yourself?

I’ve come to really admire your sweet nature and ability to see wrong from right. What’s holding you back? Your neshama is screaming out and you’re doing your utmost to shut it up.

I honestly see so much good in you. Why don’t you want to even attempt to try and change a tiny drop? What are your fears?

    Feel free to share

PS- a negative outlook is the first thing you need to get rid of. Who’s feeding that to you?

(I’m really sorry if I came across harsh. I’m so pained; I really care.)

i dunno. or maybe i’ll be honest with you and say i don’t wanna know. it’s just too much and i learned how to shut “my neshama” up a long time ago. maybe i’m being scared but i can’t imagine the bigger picture. changing would mean leaving my friends.

you’re gonna say “why are you thinking in such extremes?” but it’s practically impossible for me to change even the tiniest thing without it having a huge effect on my lifestyle.

and you think you’re pained. that’s another way to look at it.

    #640915

Moish: THAT’S what ur worried about?? Leaving ur friends??????? I know that u know that ur friends are not what matters to u in life. They’re just pulling u down. Why are u worrying about ur friends when u should be worrying about ur future??? Don’t u want to get married and start a family??? Most boys wake up when they’re 20 because which good nice girl is gonna want them wen they are like that?? They REGRET what they did and who they were!! I know alotta boys who were like that, ur still young ur 16 don’t continue doing things ur gonna regter!! Ull get new friends, BETTER friends and if they really are ur friends they’ll like u no matter how u r (I know ur gonna have some wise guy answer for that but its really the truth)

by the way (i’m not sure if this is gonna make you feel better or worse…) but i left my phone at home when i went out on shabbos. figured my mom wasn’t calling anyway… 😉

honestly, not all my friends use theirs on shabbos anyway, so it wasn’t a huge deal. but the only reason i was able to do that is because i was with them. when i’m home there’s no way i can’t not text. (i don’t really talk – i know it’s all the same but texting seems not as bad. stupid, i know.)

so i guess you could call that a change.

    #640917

If your friends were true friends, then they would still like you even if you changed a few of your habits. A real friend would be friends, even if one changed or stopped doing the same things they used to do together. A real friend would find a different activity ect. Try changing one habit, even a little bit. Try not doing it to such an extreme or as many times as you do it now. Make a line in your mind- where you wont cross. You will do everything until that point. Pick a line that is still doable but that you are afraid it may possibly reach that point.

I think you are smart enough to find one way to change ONE habit in a tiny bit…

    Enjoy playing football!

syrian, i’m gonna ignore that. just one thing: i give you a bracha you should never have a kid that does anything wrong. you would never know how to deal with it.

not saying they wouldn’t “like” me. they’re not that petty. but i wouldn’t wanna lose shaychus.

    moish-

YOU ARE NOT LEAVING YOUR FRIENDS by deciding to kiss the mezuza once a day when you leave your house, or if you say ‘asher yotzar’ at least once every day, or start putting on t’fillin once a week, or wake up 1 hour earlier than usual and daven brachos- say, twice a week…. anything, anything small. It does not have to be an area where you have your biggest nisyonos. You don’t have to go there just yet.

As soon as you start putting more spirituality in your life, more focus, more self control, implementing good habits etc- all this will automatically overflow to other areas. The things that were ‘unstoppable’ 2 months ago, suddenly become clearer for what they really are, you see things with a different perspective. And- you have the advantage of a little more self control. You will stop, think, consider. Maybe you’ll do it in the end, but that is a huge step in the right direction!

It’s obviously not magic, but you need to start SOMEWHERE. You will feel so good! Guaranteed! It’s a completely different feeling than if you went out partying. You will feel good about YOURSELF, you will gain confidence… and you will have the positiveness and drive to do more…on and on… it’s a domino affect.

Eventually- yes- you will probably leave this group of friends. But the transition is so gradual and each change so minute. It’s a long process, you will only be capable of seeing the big change, the big picture, somewhere far down the road.

But that’s not at all the point- how far down the road you do or don’t get. We are here to try and fight each battle as it comes. How far we need to go is up to Hashem.

Even if your heart is not in it at first, just start. It WILL turn out well.

Being that you refuse to read the eitza thread, I’ll post some here- coming up- stay tuned 😉

moish- that really is bittersweet news… BUT- I will overcome my momentary sadness and feel good for you upon this step in the right direction! hurumph

really- that is a good thing you did. maybe you can be mekabel not to take your phone with you on shabbos- since you see it’s doable…

oh THAT’S what you want?? kiss the mezuza? (you’re gonna laugh, i find myself doing it out of habit)

according to that i already do some small things. (or maybe i just never stopped?) i do put on tfillin and daven sometimes. you want me to make it a conscious thing? i already told you how i feel about davening. can’t do that.

and sure i could leave my phone home on shabbos. but that’s not a big deal so i don’t see why it would make any difference.

    #640923

Omg moish!! Noo 🙁 my heart just dropped when I read ur last post to areivem!!!!

    #640924

Moish: why? Cuz u no its true? U better start thinking of the future. U DO want a wife (said this to teen already) who will love u and respect u and be loyal to u, u don’t want her to be cheap or have been ‘out there’ u want her to look forward to u coming home and have a happy smile when u come in the door. U want her to be the best mother to ur children and raise them the right way. I no and u no that u want it!! So moish: how u think ur gonna get all that?!

    #640925

Moish- I believe in you! You can do what your heart desires! Ok, I am sounding like your mother here, but that is not my intention. I just want to say that I really believe that if you set your heart out to do something, you can do it. I am so proud that you did not carry your phone with you!

An Idea: Try saying modeh ani in the morning when you wake up- it really sets your day off right! Know that Hashem looks out for you (see- you found the CR when you had nothing to do) and you are not alone in your struggles!
