We are visiting orlando in the summer holidays. Does anyone if there may be a private minyan in West Haven as there seem to be quite a lot of kosher villas advertised for rent there?

You know, Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim opened a branch there, as well as a Beis Medrash. They have minyanim AND they may have a list of minyanim in the area. We went when my husband was an Avel and he had no problem finding a minyan. He even found a minyan in DisneyWorld. (He did not go on the rides or shows, but he did not want to disappoint our kids).

I don’t know where West Haven is but in Orlando you have the Orlando Torah Center located at 8591 Banyan Blvd. Orlando 32891. Phone # 407-538-1254.

    Weekday Minyan
    Shacharis:
    6:30 A.M. Monday – Friday
    8:00 A.M. Sunday

Have you ever thought about how the word, *Or*, is in Orlando? 🙂

iacisrmma, so is that a “yes,” you’ve thought of it before?

iacisrmma, maybe it is quite fitting that a Yid is asking about an Orlando Minoan for there is Or in Orlando, which is the start of Orah, and we need Orah for Torah.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing to answer the OP’s question.

    Zips mouth.

    iacisrmma,

The question was in regards to Orlando, and lightbrite’s comment was about Orlando.

    Why a harsh response?

    daniel41,

As far as I know, West Haven/ChampionsGate is very far to the southwest of Orlando down I-4 (past Disney World and well on the way to Lakeland). So it’d be a 30 minute drive to get to the Orlando Torah Center. I would definitely call the number iacisrmma provided, as there may be other minyanim available that are closer.

Avram in MD: The question is about a minyan in Orlando. I did not see how her response answered the OP’s question. I have read her response that it was not the english word “or” she was referring to but “Ohr”, and unfortunately I still stand by my (IYO) “harsh” comment. Should I respond that “oranges are good” because Orlando is in Florida? Many threads in the CR go off topic because of responses like these.

Since when has not knowing the answer ever been an impediment to posting on the CR? 🙂

Why is it a problem if a thread goes “off topic”? If you were to answer that off-topic replies might prevent the OP’s question from getting answered, I’d respond that having his thread drop way down the CR landing page due to a lack of responses is a much bigger threat to getting his question answered than unrelated (IYO) comments. I think lightbrite was doing the OP a favor by keeping his thread high on the CR landing page.

At this point I am not sure who to complain about….the posters for constantly going off topic; replies defending that poster; or the moderators for allowing it.

All three seem to be appropriate subject matters for complaints and perhaps the inyan for a new thread…

    What???
Exactly what basis would I have had for deleting the post?? When posts are of topic feel free to say so or ask the poster to post elsewhere.
