In which cities are there kosher food and minyanim.?

Umm..there are no Jews in Jordan- at least none that are openly Jewish. I recall there were problems when a group of Jews about a year ago wanted to daven at Aron’s kever on Har Nevo but were not allowed into the country with yarmulkes and tefillin. This past summer, a group of Israelis were harrassed in their hotel by Jordanian police, told it was illegal for them to daven, even in their hotel rooms and threatened with arrest. At the border crossing, they had their suitcases searched and talleisim, books, tefillin, yarmulkes, tzitis were taken. I remember someone else who went on a day tour (from Israel) and had to eat all her kosher food on the tour bus because they were not allowed to bring in food. You might get in under the radar on a British passport, but only if you do not look obviously Jewish.
There are remnants of a Jewish community in Lebanon-maybe a couple of hundred people who for whatever reason could not leave. They keep a very low profile. I would imagine it would not be safe to publicize that you are a Jew in Beirut. Be careful dodging Hezbollah.
The Hermon is part of Israel.

There was a Kosher restaurant in Amman, Jordan but it closed. I was in Jordan, but it was a day trip from Eliat to Petra. Petra was really cool.

Lebanon you need to be careful of, you are not allowed to enter Lebanon with any marking of having visited Israel nor are you allowed to bring in anything with Hebrew Language on it.

When you cross the border from Israel to Jordan, the Israelis might not mark your Passport, but the Jordanians do and if the Lebanese see Arava Crossing for example in your passport they will not let you in.

I would imagine Jordan and Lebanon would not interfere with an American or British Jew entering with whatever personal religious articles they have.

According to the Chabad website, they do not have any shiluchim in either Jordan or Lebanon.

Lebanon will not let you in if you have any religious article no matter what passport you have.

If you are british (Or any other westerner) and want to go and have signs in your passport of visiting Israel you need to get another passport (The US and I am sure the UK allow you to get a second passport for this purpose)

The United Arab Emeriates (Dubai) is the only country that does not allow Israelis to enter , but allows anyone else to enter. if you are an Israeli who was not born in Israel and have another passport (Like US or EU) then you can go even if you have Israel stamped in your passport and you can bring jewish religious items there

I would imagine Lebanon to be dangerous as if they catch on you are a Jewish foreigner there may be a high chance of kidnapping God forbid. However kever Zevulun is supposed to be in the town of Sidon. It’s a dream of mine to make it there – if you get any information about it could you please post?

I never heard of Zebulen’s tomb in Lebanon and I did a quick Google and I found it, It seems it was an ancient jewish pilgramage site

However the pictures I saw of it were a building with overgrown weeds around it and there doesnt appear any way in because of the overgrown weeds

There are snacks sold in Jordan that are produced by Israeli companies. They might be kosher .

Google maps says that there is a shul in Beirut called “Maghen Abraham”. In the reviews only one person actually writes something about the shul and he says that:”Tried to get to see it so many check points blocking the road I could not reach it ”
    Enjoy your trip anyway!

Lebanon made a big hype of restoring the Magen Avraham shul several years ago. Just that any jews who are left in Beirut would be too scared to outwardly admit they are Jewish and daven there. So it’s a tourist site, assuming, as Chaver pointed out, that one can get past the road blocks.

I would not go to any of those countries at this point in time. I went to Jordan for one day from Israel because I was afraid to bring in my Tallis and Tfillin. I took a bus to Irbid but returned because it felt very strange being the only Jew among all the Arabs. I’m sure there is so much to see in Israel.

    Rabbi of Crawley.
Please change your plans. Why would you put yourself in sakana to tour these places where our enemies are not afraid to take life?!
Please find somewhere else to tour Jewish historical sites.

Parts of Jordan and Lebanon ARE Eretz Yisroel. I am fairly certain Petra and Aarons grave are Ertez Yisroel and Sidon where Zebulin is buried is also Eretz Yisroel.

Eliat where you have to cross the border to get to Jordan is NOT Eretz Yisroel (Aqaba is not either)

Jordan is the safest country in the middle east and is a beacon of peace in a dangerous region.

They are a country of peace and are tolerant to minorities. They are a wealthy kingdom with a high standard of living, although, like in israel, there is a high rate of poverty.

Either you’re living under a rock, or you’re trying to be funny.
If I hadn’t seen the beginning of the question, I’d think you were asking about Florida, or Virginia.

Places much less dangerous than Jordan or Lebanon have no Chabad, or any minyanim.

I am pretty sure Petra is part of Eretz Yisroel (Not the modern State of Israel) The Ever H’Yarden is present day Jordan

I think there is some Kedusha to Amman and Damascus too as they are considered part of Eretz Yisroel in some way

ZD- Jordan is a large country which includes the lands of Ammon, Moav and Edom- which were not part of E”Y and will only be in Moshiach’s time. Petra would lie in Edom territory. (Notably, the southern tip of modern Israel, all the way to Eilat, is actually Edom). Ever Hayarden is the land of Sichon and Og- from the Yarden northward into the Golan, which would include Har Nevo. But Ever Hayarden never achieved the level of E”Y of the 91/2 shevatim- afterall, we know that Moshe did not enter E”Y but did enter/capture/distribute Ever Hayarden.
Parts of Lebanon were indeed part of E”Y during Yehoshua’s time, so yes, Sidon would have kedusha. Amman however is the ancient Rabat Amon, which was part of Amon, and not Ever Hayarden. Damesek was farther North, part of Aram, also not Ever Hayarden.

Rabbi of Crawley – I think you are being naive if you think the Arabs are only against Israelis and not Jews. Why do Arabs shout about killing the Yahud? Do you know that Jewish American soldiers serving in the Gulf or Iraq were advised not to put Jew on their dog-tags? Why have Jewish sites around the world been subjected to terror attacks over the years if only Israelis are hated? Remember Leon Klinghoffer? Daniel Pearl?

Jordan encompasses what was Eretz Sichon and Og, Amon, Moab and Edom. Sichon and Og were captured by Moshe, which became the Ever Hayarden where the 21/2 shevatim settled was Eretz Sichon and Og. It’s the immediate other side of the Yarden, North of Yam Hamelach.
Amon, Moab, Edom were not part of Kibush Yehoshua or Moshe. Bnei Yisroel were not allowed to make war with them, and had to go around them until they reached the lands of Sichon and Og.
Petra is in what was once Edom, which is south of Yam Hamelach.
Amman is in what was Amon- it used to be known as Rabat-Amon.
Damesek was in Aram, much more to the North. I believe that Dovid Hamelech capture Aram at one point, but I don’t think it ever achieved the kedusha of E”Y.

    RoC,
“Terrorists kill non zionist Jews because they are not muslim, just like they blow up trains and just like they did in manchester”
So why do you think Amman is safer than Manchester?

Btw, did you go to Ncl Uni? and did you jin the protests against the Belzer Rebbe when he was in London recently?

    RoC post #1438968
Terrorists kill non zionist Jews because they are not muslim,

The only way to reconcile these two statements is to assume that RoC feels that the terrorists in question were not Arabs.
