Does this have to do with people starting topics as one post with several quotations, because I personally find those annoying and do not even read that starting post on that topic, even if I end up reading the rest of the posts for that topic.

mods, are you able to moderate the shorter ones first and let them go through and then moderate the longer ones because it clearly says in the coffee room rules not to post long megillas. so if they want to, then thats fine but they can be second priority?

A new rule is being instituted on a trial basis:
Post length will be limited to 1000 characters (including spaces). This number may be increased/decreased in the future if it isn’t working out.
As always, it will be left to the discretion of the individual mods whether or not to enforce the rule in each situation.

Ok now I see the clipped stuff… but weve never had this problem before? Sounds a bit extreme. Weve had people write PAGES of stuff and that was a problem, but the posts I see look long but not insanely long. Why is this suddenly a big deal now?

golfer, using long, difficult words doesn’t mean that the posts are too lengthy, but that one has an advanced, well-developed vocabulary. Anyway, I personally rather read erudite posts than those that are replete with grammatical and spelling errors and are deficient in punctuation.
translation: wiht long hard words doesnt mean the posts are 2 long but that he knows lots of words anyway i like to reed smart posts better than posts full of bad grammer & speling with no dots or comas

Looking at this topic maybe you should consider a per-topic max length as well as a per-post max length!
How is breaking up a long post into three separate posts helpful? The moderator needs to read the same material whether it is in one post or three.
Additionally, if you break it up and the mod approves them in a different order than submitted, the separate posts will appear in incorrect order.

while I’m not the one “modding” IT is easier to read shorter chunks of drivel (my own included) than a long screed. I imagine this is particularly they for the mods, since they arent judging based on the content, ie how much sense it makes how logical it is etc.
They just need to screen it to make sure language is appropriate no lashon harah, bizui talmid chachamim etc.
This is certainly easier to do with 3 shorter posts than one long one.Everything worth reading has already been published (somewhere), so there’s no point in posting more than a brief summary.
