My steering wheel gets so hot in the summer heat. What do you guys do to protect your hands? I sometimes cant put my hand on the wheel for more than a few seconds.

You can throw a towel over the steering wheel before you park.

They make protectors for steering wheels out of things that don’t get hot for this.

You own driving gloves? I was thinking about it but thought it being too much.

Wrap your hand in an undershirt, park in the shade, don’t hold the steering wheel, take the pain, leave a dish towel on top of your steering wheel when you park and it’ll be fine when you come back.

WIY- Park in the shade. Or get a remote starter so you can turn on the AC first.

Buy a steering wheel cover. even though it seems like a warm material, it doesn’t feel warm and it’s certainly better than the hot leather of the wheel!

I know that Lexus has an option of a “cooled-stering wheel.” Never realized that someone would have a need for such a thing.

Why not use any of the other wheels?

If not for the direct sunlight, the steering wheel would probably not get hotter than the rest of the vehicle’s interior. Block the direct sunlight with one of those panels that you place behind the windshield. If you know the sun will be coming from the side, such as the driver’s side window, put a panel there too.

I bought a leopard print steering wheel cover at a yard sale for $1 and it even came with a matching cell phone case. Of course my brother refuses to drive with it because he thinks it’s “too girly”. I’ll take leopard print anytime for $1 when the alternative is buying a fancy one from the car dealership that will cost you upwards of $20.

I’d recommend a white steering wheel cover that deflects the sunlight.

i found the clip of the seat belt would get hot as well.

turn on the car and ac and then step outside for a couple minute so things can cool down.

if you have a remote starter then use it prior to coming to the car

I keep a towel in the car and use it to hold the steering wheel, I never thought of putting it on the steering wheel when it’s parked – good idea.

The other issue I have is the handle to open the car door gets really hot sometimes.

I think we should all go back to using a horse and buggy so we don’t have these issues.

I use my yarlmuke. An added benefit is that I don’t make a chillul Hashem when I cut everyone off by the battery tunnel.

You aren’t supposed to take off your yarmulka unnecessarily. One shouldn’t go 4 Amos (or the amount of time it takes to walk for Amos) without kissuy harosh.
