DY: I asked a friend of mine who knows almost everything there is to know about old Jewish music. He said it’s on an old album called Rachaynu. It was put out by Ruach Revival before their Ruach Revival album. I don’t know where to get the original album, although my friend does have an mp3 of the original song. He got it from a relative who has the original record.

Yes, in the notes from the English Classics album, it says it’s from RR, and it’s not on the original RR album or RR Rolls Along (cute cover – the band members pose in front of a Rolls Royce). Hisor’ri was probably on that album as well.

    Feif:

I found Ruchaynu. I need to convert it to MP3, and then hope that a helpful mod can facilitate file sharing (this has not been available for many years). Stay tuned.

    Feif,

I asked a mod to send you a link to three Ruach Revival albums. Did you get it?

I’ll have to check when I get home today, as I can’t check that email address from work.

I have posted an anonymous email address of mine here before – look for the thread where I wrote that my employer has openings.

    DaasYochid, nice website! That yours?

I would also like a copy of the Ruach Revival albums. Possible?

I assume you mean the haircut website. It’s not mine, but I helped (in a very small way) to get it up.

As far as Ruach Revival, If you find Feif’s email address, I’m sure he can send you the link.

    Feif,

Did you get it (I rarely check the email address I sent it from, which is just for CR stuff)?

I noticed a couple more songs cut short. I redid them and will send them out shortly. I have to make a quick shopping trip before Shabbos, so I’ll double check in the car.

    Have a great Shabbos!

Yes, excellent. In the redone version (the Yess Legacy), they removed those words. 🙁

Anyhow, regards to Feif. Please tell him that despite our differences, I never meant anything personally, and I hope I wasn’t part of the reason he left. Maybe invite him back for this pareve thread!

DaasYochid, he wasn’t the one naming the songs – I was 🙂 I fed him the answers.

    Here’s a tougher one:

DaasYochid, I looked through the thread, and you always used to get the tough ones… I’m disappointed in you! Here’s one more that you should know:

“Tears for the wall, so wantonly crumbled

The house of Hashem still humbled”

“Wandering and searching, a girl lone and frightened

I can’t check it up because I am keeping second half of the Sefira, but I think that is from one of Yigal Caleks (London School of Jewish Song) classics – the song about Russia, maybe Forgotten Princess?

A few weeks before he was niftar, I emailed with R. Moshe Yess, asking him for the lyrics to “Jewish child”, a fantastic (and today very relevant) song from megama. I also asked him where I could get the tape with the song. He sent me the lyrics, but told me he had no idea where I could get the song.

If anyone would happen to have an mp3 of that song, I would greatly appreciate it!

Shraga18: I have it, and can transfer it to mp3. If you email Feif Un (he mentions where you can find his email above), I can give it to him to email back to you.

It will have to wait a bit, as I hold of the 2nd half of sefirah, and try not to work with music now, as it often entails playing it.

Yes yekke2 is correct! I have two others out there:

“Why oh why does this happen

    In a world so advanced?”

“Tears for the wall, so wantonly crumbled

The house of Hashem still humbled”

I’m not sure on the first one if I have the lyrics exactly correct – it’s not entirely clear what the words are, and there was no lyrics sheet with the album. The 2nd line might be “The world’s so advanced”.

    DaasYochid,

I received the file from Feif. Thank you so much! It must be around twenty years since I heard that song last, and it really brought tears to my eyes. So very, very relevant in our days…

Feif Un, thanks for being an intermediary here!

For anyone interested, here are the lyrics for the song, as given to me by R Moshe Yess z”l.

    Jewish child…Jewish child

you’re out there on the streets you’re running wild

you’re carefree and you’re living on your own

there’s no strings attached to you

you can do whatever you want to

    Jewish child…Jewish child

the neon disco lights are now your style

the sunrise on the ocean has your eyes

there’s no strings attached to you

you can do whatever you want to

Every day your people pray at the Western Wall

And they don’t even know even know your name at all

And they pray to God you’re gonna find your way back home

to the Five Books of Moses to the Five Books of Moses

    Jewish child…Jewish child

listen while I talk for just a while

your people have a lot of love for you

why go throwing that away? why go throwing that away?

Every day your people pray at the Western Wall

And they don’t even know even know your name at all

And they pray to God you’re gonna find your way back home

to the Five Books of Moses to the Five Books of Moses

    Jewish child…Jewish child….Jewish child.

Is Anyone going to try and answer the two I posted? I’ll give hints:

The first one is from a popular choir

You’ll have to reach out to get the 2nd one.

DaasYochid, I’ll give you a big hint, which will probably give it away.

A few years ago, this choir released an album which was supposed to be a collection of all their English songs. For some reason, this song was (I think) the only one left off the album.

DY & R Shmuel: I don’t know either one of those off the top of my head. I’ll think about them.

Nations – Shema Koleinu Vol I. Yhe question as inspired by Listen Nations.

    I don’t think I’ll get #2, although R Shmuel’s sounds a bit familiar.

Believe it or not, I’ve never heard of Shema Koleinu. I did a quick Google search and found them, but that’s the first time I’ve seen it.

I doubt you’ll get #2 – it’s from the same album as a song Feif Un posted a while ago. It’s called Stop Where You Are, from an album called Mesorah. I’m trying to find a copy of it somewhere, with little luck. My most recent attempt was through a friend of mine. I remembered that one or two of the songs on the album were composed by his father-in-law. He’s going to ask for me where I can get a copy.

If I get one, I can try to send it to you.
