There has been much controversy on social media over the recent simchaspot post, of a Ger and a Giyores. Simchaspot has received numerous emails questioning the status of the Geirus of the Chosson, Yechiel Yisruel Bloyd.

Simchaspot has spoken with Rabbi Noach Isaac Oelbaum and Rabbi peretz Steinberg, who were involved in the Geirus. Both have confirmed the authenticity of the conversion. Any of the questionable material people have brought to the table to discredit him, has taken place before he converted.

It should be noted, that since he converted, Yechiel Yisruel started his own Chassidus called Toldos Yisruel, over which he presides as Rebbe.

On a list of 100 things the frum tzibur needs today, no. 832 is ANOTHER chassidus with ANOTHER rebbe. Perhaps he will wish to be know as the Gerrer Rebbe (or has that been trademarked?)

    its own bureacracy

He started his own chassidus, and declared himself a Rebbe? What a joke. A Rebbe is supposed to be chosen by the followers. How many followers does this guy have?

I would agree if I thought this was a normal situation. Read the article and look at the kid. I do not know how they let him get through geirus.

There is a lack of chassidus in Tacoma Washington. I say, chazak viematz.

The guy had a valid Conversion. Rabbi Oelbaum and Rabbi Steinberg of the Vaad of Queens which is considered the best conversion in NYC did the conversion

Has that been confirmed by the Vaad of Queens?

The Beit Din was actually 3 people. The 3rd one confirmed he was there. He is not as well known as Rabbi Oelbaum and Rabbi Steinberg, his name is Rabbi Joseph Kowalski

A “chassidus” only requires one follower…unless Rebitzen Yisruel is a closet misnaged, I think he has the required quorum of ONE. If Joe is monitoring this thread, he might have a second so that he can be certain to have the requisite broigas among his chassidim.

Call Rabbi Oelbaum and Rabbi Steinberg. The link in the OP says they confirmed it.

It’s highly unlikely he shared his idea to any beis din that converted him of starting a new Chassidus and declaring himself Rebbe.

They confirmed the geyrus, NOT the Chassidus….the Vaad of Queens doesn’t certify chassidus (nor to my knowledge does anyone). Any rebbele can anoint himself as the Rockaway Rebbe, have someone design a cool set of levush (how about feaux fur streimlach and a green bekeshe for the environmentally sensitive millennials), rent an old Starbucks location as his shteitel and hope someone shows up for davening (e.g. advertise free chulent for the local yungerleit).

How do you think the helbrander rebbe started his chassidus? He was the first .hid wife was the second and then came the kids and so on.

It’s mamesh a problem that people with strange ideas and ideas foreign to Judaism are smart enough to not say anything about them to the Beis Din. I have known quite a few individuals who had they been Jewish would be considered apikorsim and totally off but they managed to fool batei din in to converting them.

I read his bio on the above link, ( I may have been sent somewhere else from that page) where he described his path to Judaism, and what went into his chassidus. He lists what he’s versed and learned in, zero mention of gemarah. He lists many many other things. I wish him hatzlacha, but I doubt he’s qualified to lead a chassidus

5ish: If a potential Ger believes apikorsus beliefs, as you say you’ve seen happen, then his purported geirus — even if he fooled the Beis Din and completed all the geirus rituals completely — is invalid. Rav Elyashiv says this specifically.

Rabbi Oelbaum and Rabbi Steinberg are some of the Premier people on the conversion beis din in the US. I am sure they have seen them all, both are tremendous Talmedei Chachamin

Re no: 831. Is that after they’ve landed at Heathrow, and got one of the hundreds of ex-Israeli taxi drivers to take them round London and the two day whizz around Manchester?

Yeah, this unfortunately smells of one of those cases. I think the batei din are actually probably good in general about keeping those kind of people out, but there are so many weird people in the world that a few a bound to slip through. I know someone who is a vocal meshichist who got through the Queens beis din. I’m not insulting that beis din at all; it’s just a tough situation.

“with respect to the “Hellbrander Rebbe”, did you make that up or is there really another such rebbe ”

Unfortunately, Helbrans affected many misguided souls read below link about his death:

Shlomo Helbrans, Lev Tahor Cult Leader Drowns In River While ‘Toiveling’ On Friday

However, he did have some “leading” qualifications and was somewhat a bit learned in a very very twist minded way. They say he was a very charismatic person and was able to convince the ignoramus BT masses to follow his cult.

Unlike this KID who is just playing “rebbe”, if he wants to call himself a Rashkbehag and Ba’al Mekubal let it be…Anyone who will follow him needs serious help in the first place.

Reminds me of the story of the felow who told the Gerrer Rebbe “איך האב געהאט א חלום אז איך זאל זיין א רבי”
(I had a dream that I should be a Rebbe)
to which the Rebbe replied “ס׳איז נישט גענוג אז די חלומסט‏, דיין חסידים דארפען חולמען ”
(Its not enough for you to dream, your chasidim have to dream)

    Shulem aleichem,

I’m the ger in question from the page. I have fully kosher beliefs, none of my beliefs go against Chazal. . The fact that simcha spot updated my information with what it says was the opposite of what I wanted, all I wanted was the edit to the post so it had the name of my wife and myself rather than “Oh look this meshigine ger is a rebbe.” My intent in geiris was pure, simply to serve the Aibishter through the תורה ומצוות.
