Nu, this is New York. There’s barely anywhere to park. So when you find the last spot in town, it’s of course only exactly big enough to squeeze in. And only with your special parking expertise. Then it’s bumper to bumper. But, hey, that’s what bumpers are for, right? To bump the other cars bumper. That’s why they are called bumpers, no? So why does some sourpuss have to complain that you touched his brand new shiny bumper? That’s what they are for. Are you supposed to not park, despite the precious precise space between those two cars, just because someone else might not know what bumpers are for?

Bumpers are there as protection for the main body of the car. If damaged, you are responsible

That’s absolutely ridiculous. If you put up a fence to protect your lawn am I allowed to damage the fence, because, hey, at least I didn’t damage your lawn, and the fence is only there to protect it?

If you can’t fit in the space without hitting another car, then the space is too small for your car. If you then try and fail you’re liable for all damages.

Why do you think they are called “bumpers”?

And if your bumper touches the next cars bumper while parking, there isn’t any damage.

didnt say damaged he said “touched” Of course

Yes I am allowed to touch your fence

Of course if you damage the bumper or fence you have to pay .I dont think Joseph is arguing that point

Just move to the suburbs. Parking lots. Driveways.

    False.

If you then try and fail you’re liable for all damages.

As ubiquitin pointed out, that’s not what the op said, but I’d go further and say that one should also not be liable for small scratches and the like.

What would you do if you witnessed someone ‘bump’ someone else’s bumper and left a dent in the other persons car.

Assuming that you can do more than just tell, like have footage of the bumping incident.

What if the person that bumped the car was a driver, and he might lose his job if this came to light?

Should you just move on with your day or get involved and contact the owner of the car that has been bumped?

taking footage is a chiyuv to help a person from losing out &

speaking to the person who did the damage not to run away but do whats right is a CHIYUV of the mitzva of “hocheach tocheach ess amisecha”

Why do cars have to be the same size when parked as when they are in use?
