With all the negativity surrounding Israel & Jews it was so heartwarming to come upon this. We should appreciate non-jews that stand with us when it’s so unpopular.
[In case some don’t know this is not WESTERN Virginia but the separate state of] West Virginia. With fewer than 2,000 Jews (& half aren’t really Jewish, it certainly wasn’t the Jews pushing this).

    February 25, 2026
Under a bill passed by the West Virginia Senate Wednesday, state agencies would no longer be able to use the term “West Bank” in official government materials.
Senate Bill 880 recognizes Israel as one of this country’s closest allies and requires state agencies to use “Judea” for land south of Jerusalem and “Samaria” for land north of Jerusalem. West Bank, said supporters of the legislation, is a term often used by opponents of Israel to discredit its claim to the land.
“Our key ally, Israel, is under attack from all sides, especially with an attempt to erase its history,” said Sen. Tom Willis, “Names have power. THIS BILL SHOWS THAT WEST VIRGINIA SUPPORTS ISRAEL & THE JEWISH PEOPLE.”
Sen. Taylor said, “This is not a political slogan. It’s the historical name of the land. Today, we simply say this: we will use accurate historical terminology. We will no longer adopt a language designated to delegitimize. We will not apologize for standing with America’s closest allies,”
[The bill passed the Senate 32-2]

In America, Anti-Semitism correlates with holding left wing views (a.k.a. WOKE, Progressive, Socialist) and with being Muslim or Secular, which generally correlates with living in the “Blue” states, and especially in large urban areas. Most frum Jews live in those areas. This suggests that the frum community, if it wants to stay in America, should relocate to the “Red” states. This will involve significant economic and social adjustment, and will probably be devastating to those who own real property (since our exit will crash the real estate markets in our neighborhoods), but not renters (and only in New York are most frum Jews renting).

Good news, probably there are even less of lefty intellectuals and arabs in WV than even of Jews.

The State of “Israel” has nothing to do with Judaism or the Jewish people anymore than the State of Lebanon does. Both of those states include portions of Eretz Yisroel and portions of Chutz La’aretz.

The State of “Israel” is a secular non-Jewish state that stands for the polar opposite of Judaism.

Support for that state in no way, shape or form indicates support for Jews.

One can easily oppose the State of “Israel” and support and be the biggest friend of Jews. And one can easily support the State of “Israel” while being the biggest enemy of Judaism and Jews.

This actually reminded of an interview Jesse Waters did in WV many years ago.
WV lady: We will not be overcome by anybody else because we already established ourselves.
Jesse: Don’t even let the Russians think about it?
WV lady: Don’t even let the Muslims think about it.

Ujm – the venom diagram overlap between people who hate Israel and people who hate Jews is nearly 100 percent. You may not like the state of Israel but that is the government of our home and when Jews criticize Israel from a Jewish perspective and question the states legitimacy know that no one outside of a narrow band of Jews understands the difference and instead the Muslims and the leftists raise those arguments – like the neturei karta standing with Muslim murderers of Jews – to support mhrdering Jews.

I understand your argument but no one outside a narrow band of Jews does and those who hate Judaism use your argument to support destroying Israel and killing all the Jews who live there.

Keith, right – as German Jews thought that they can slide as “German of Mosaic faith”. Same for “chassidim for Mamdani”

This whole idea that people “hate” us. So arragent. It’s like an easy way to never take moral clarity or responsibility for anything
Where else in life would “everyone hates us” not be a victim mindset and victim mentality that doesn’t allow a person to change their behavours. Nowhere. It’s an unhealthy and untrue mindset.

    Nevuah,
This should probably be a separate thread (if ywn would even allow it).
But I agree & take a lot of flak for it.
Too many Jews have internalized a “Perpetual Victim” mentality & lost sight of the idea that “Actions have consequences” you can’t “Globalize” the Jewish experience & Jews are judged like everyone else.

Another common denominator between Chasidim and West Virginians [besides marrying cousins] is family feuds, Satmar and Hatfield and McCoys
