    WIY, I wasn’t trying to complain. I was using the un-like button, as Oh Shreck! suggested.

    Proposal to change all references to goyisheh acronyms to more appropriate Yiddishe acronyms. In this way we shall separate ourselves from the tumadickeh outside world and the chukas hagoyim:

    • OMG = RSO (Ribono Shel Oilom)
    • LOL = Nothing. There is nothing funny about the Internet. Its only use should be for serious business.
    • WT(LAST LETTER CENSORED) = OG (Oy Gevalt!)
    • IMO = IG (Ich Gedensk)

    #956161

    OMG = OHS

    Do you get it?

    I know someone who started saying OMHBH as a joke once. I don’t think it caught on though.

    The problems:

    Needs to be short and sweet- there’s a reason why OMHBH never caught on.

    Needs to be in a language spoken by teenage girls- NOT YIDDISH.

    writersoul: hey! plenty of teenage girls in BP and Williamsburg speak Yiddish.

    Do they have phones with text? Do they have email?

    Most people I know who do neither live in these places nor speak Yiddish (though there are exceptions- then again, I put that in the same category as my friends who speak Russian, Spanish and Farsi). Yiddish just isn’t nearly as common among non-chassidish girls as it is among non-chassidish boys- my brother’s in fifth grade and he can scrape by in Yiddish just from picking it up, and I wouldn’t understand the first thing you’d say to me.

    I don’t know that that’s true. We’re not chassidish and don’t speak yiddish at home and I can understand basic conversations…

Some people i know wrot omigosh so its dosent get mixed up with the goishye version. But even if i say the whole thing (which is longer to write) i never say the goishye version EVER

    fkelly: I do my best not to make sweeping statements- this is just what I’ve found to be true among people I know.
