It happens a man was teaching his little boy the big Mitzvah of lighting the Chanuka candles. Everybody in the house has their own Chanuka candle. The boy was standing and lighting his own Chanuka candles. The father walked out of the room, and the boy was burned up.

What’s the big lesson to be learnt? The big lesson is you’re a shofech damim (you shed blood) if you leave a child alone when there is a burning light.

The above was sent by “simcha minute” – brief inspirational quotes by Rav Avigdor Miller.

I dont disagree with the message, but, how is “you’re a shofech damim (you shed blood) if you leave a child alone when there is a burning light” an inspirational message? Timely and important, yes. Inspirational?

OY Gutt in himmel! every year we unfortunately hear terrible stories associated with the chanuka licht.whether its fires, burns, and r”l even worse. Every year when I go out of town for Shabbos Chanukah, I light the menorah, wait 30-40 minutes and then blow it out. Only then do I leave.

may the rbs”o grant every yid a happy healthy safe chanukah, with only besuros tovos flooding our the jewish websites such as this one.

This inspires one to do the right thing and being aware and vigilant with fire around kids. Too many horror stories have happened over the years.

Please, why do we have to remind each other about this only on Chanuka? We light candles every Shabbos and our Shabbos candles are just as dangerous. Put all candles/fire out of reach of children and never, ever leave children alone in a room where candles are burning.

aries2756, true, but usually chanuka time is when all these tragedies strike. especially because kids get to light. also older people have a hard time lighting with oil, especially when they’re alone with no one to assist them.

Thats called a warning, not inspiration. Whatever it is, hopefully people use common sense when handling, or allowing children to handle fire.

Bacause Shabbos candles don’t have the same halochas regarding where they have to be lit.

Look, I didn’t choose to call this “inspirational” on my own. *eyeroll*

This is how I received the email. They call it daily inspirational quotes. If the message is a warning, then maybe you can sue them for false advertising. (laugh)
