I was in a store last night getting cholent and the guy in front of me was on his phone and I saw him log on to Yeshiva world, and then on to the CR, and then he put his username in and I was so shocked!! I totally did not expect him to be like that!

Hashemisreading- I have my ways 😉 Actually a poster emailed me last week since she saw an article I wrote in a magazine and emailed me that I remind her of a poster in the CR. Guess I have the same writing style everywhere I write! lol

So you don’t know if your emailpal is merely a reader-only or a participant here.

YW makes it impossible to know the identity of anyone here, unless somehow people have found a way short of of clearly identifying themselves

I will occasionally email various posters identities to each other in the hopes of resolving the shidduch crisis

Lol! My friend just emailed me about something I wrote in the CR… though she’s known my screenname for a good four years or so so it wasn’t a tremendous shock to either of us…

I know the identities of two or three other posters as well, with the unfortunate tradeoff being that they know who I am also 🙂

(Just saying- I make it very easy for people with the right context to know who I am- just pretend you don’t notice, awright? Makes lives so much simpler 🙂 )

No I see that she says she posts something or will email me something here and usually does.

MOD: How do you know who is single and what gender they are? Or do you have guessing games?

Mods I actually think ther emust be so many shidduchim right here in our cozy little coffee room. There are so many of us who share the same views on life.

We do not know who is male and who is female.

Posters here have suggested shidduchim saying that if these two posters are single and of opposite genders, then they are suggesting the shidduch.

    #1134901

But there has yet to be a CR wedding. If it did happen, would we all be invited?

Come on, cant we usually figure it out?

    #1134903

Not all the time. It’s online, anyone can pretend to be another gender.

I know but their way of talking can usually give it away.

    #1134905

You can easily pretend. Someone who is trying really hard and is knows of everything they write..

But there has yet to be a CR wedding.

Resolving the shiduch crisis doesn’t necessarily mean people will get married. It just means more people will go out with each other.

Sure, if you define “the shidduch crisis” as not having many dates. According to that definition, chassidim have the worst shidduch crisis, since they have beshows.

    That was a remarriage/confirmation ceremony.

yummycupcake didn’t get married to another poster (or did she?)

How you define the shiduch crisis doesn’t effect how it’s resolved.

SDD:How you define the shiduch crisis doesn’t effect how it’s resolved.

yes it does, because the next step after defining the shidduch crisis is resolving the shidduch crisis.

We wouldn’t be able to resolve it before we define it!

    #1134914

I think they were married BEFORE the cr

You can define it as something that’s already been resolved.

Rebyidd: You can define it as something that’s already been resolved.

    Huh? I don’t see how that’s a definition.

    #1134917

Say, for example, we defined the shidduch crisis as the inability to discuss shidduchim in a public forum. With the CR, that’s been resolved.

    #1134918
    Hashemisreading

Daasyochid: But that’s the wrong definition!

Among the possible definitions of the shidduch crisis are the following:

    a) The age gap

    b) the freezer

    c) the boys mother

    d) the girls are picky

    e) the boys are shallow

    f) the girls are too deep for the shallow boys

    g) there are more girls than boys

And unfortunately many more. That’s what I call a definition, or an explanation of the shidduch crisis. Not cryptic wording that Rebyidd makes up to make himself sound smart.

Feel free to add on plausible definitions, going all the way to Z and then aa, bb and so on.

    #1134919

I’d rather define it as the inability to discuss anything other than shiduchim in a public forum. With the CR, we see it firsthand.

    #1134920

There is no wrong definition of the shidduch crisis. If there were, your list would be (almost?) all wrong.

    #1134921

SDD, so if we shut down all public forums, we’d solve it.

HIR (to save DY the task):

    h) the inability to discuss shidduchim in a public forum

    Presto!

DY, That’s one way of solving it. Or you can get more people to go out with each other.
