I had to login to my account and after putting my account name (not my screen name) and password it has a simple math equation to make sure I wasn’t a robot
Seriously?
Only those whos schools skipped simple math subjects would have issue with a simple equation.
As far as robots go? Welcome to the real world. Just about everything done today has robotics built in to some degree.Was the math too hard?

A math question is a lot better than some of the other “I am not a robot” verification schemes used on some websites. The most annoying is where they show you a matrix of 9 or 12 photos and ask you to check each one that shows a certain item (e.g. airplane, car, etc.). Problem is that trying to see on a small screen divided into 9 small photos is just about impossible. After 3 incorrect guesses, you are locked out
I sometimes get that question and sometimes do not. In any case, I also find it very offensive.

Why do people who are totally not robots sound vaguely Russian?
There’s a bit of an interesting history behind the various Captchas, which
you can look up yourself. They’ve now developed a more convenient one
that looks at how you move the mouse to click the “I’m not a robot” box.It would be more appropriate for the YWN “bot verification” tests to have more of a yiddieshe context where the “correct” answers were only something a “yeshivish” yid would possibly know. For example, “please check boxes showing photos of Ungareshe gefilte fish” The only “correct” answer would be the photo of a 5 lb bag of sugar.

Reb Yosef: Nope, I’m a relatively “new” poster on CR (several years but not a decade). However, your triggered my curiosity into my predecessor “sammygol” so I dug back into the CR archives and searched. One of the first postings that surfaced from back in 2008 was an apparent plea from one of YOUR guys with the screen name of chacham who demanded to know why the Mods allowed postings from a lengthy list of posters he labeled as apikorsim. Sammy, of course, was among the 8 worst offenders he insisted should be banned from the CR. None of the 8 are still regular posters here, so I’m apparently the last of the offenders still around (although unrecognizable as one of the lamid vov virtual CR tzadikim lurking).
