Has anyone installed solar panels on their roof? I am curious if it is really worthwhile in terms of electricity savings, and if the installers were reliable.

It takes several years before the savings pay for itself. Afterwards you can actually make some money as the electricity generated feeds into the grid and your power company pays you for it.

Thanks, yungerman1. Have you installed them?

Nope, but someone I know well did.

Using solar panels will definitely save you money in the long run. If you really want to save money, you can actually install them yourself. It’s not terribly difficult. There are many videos on Youtube that demonstrate how to install solar panels yourself. Before anything though, make sure that you have a large enough area on your roof unblocked by trees and buildings where lots of sunlight falls through out the day.

Thanks yungerman. Is it possible to find out whom he used for the installation and whether he recommends them? I am also potentially interested in this.
