    Tosafos in Beitza 6a writes:

    ????? ??? ???? ???? ???? ????? ????? ??? ???? ??”? ?????? ??? ??? ?????? ??????? ??? ??? ??? ??? ?????? ???? ????? ?????? ?????? ??? ????? ??? ????? ??????? ??”? ???? ??? ?????

The Igros Moshe which I quoted earlier (though I did mistakenly cite it as 4:100 instead of 2:100 (but the link is still accurate)) elaborates on this point, ???? ??.

There were probably more poisonous snakes around in previous generation than today

Why would there be less snakes now?

Not less snakes. Less snakes in our houses and where we keep our water.

DY, there are actually three opinions:

    1. All are obligated.

    2. None are obligated and there is no inyan to be machmir.

    3. None are obligated but it is good to be machmir.

    See http://www.torah.org.il/advanced/weekly-halacha/5761/vaeschanan.html

Yes, but it seems to me that 1 and 3 are more common than 2.

“2qwerty: Putting on multiple garments at once is Kasheh L’shich’cha. Taking them off is not.”

???? ??? ????? ????? ?’ ? where he says that one should be machmir about undressing as well.

Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach (?????? ???? ?”? ? ?”?) however says that one only needs to be cautious about things that are explicit (i.e. only dressing – not undressing).

I thought the reason why you need to cover your water overnight had to do with Ruach HaTumah when you are asleep, and liquids absorb Ruach Hatumah more so than anything else. On the other hand, if one person is awake then the liquids are fine. That’s what I heard. But I may be wrong.

A ordinary thing that is a problem according to halacha and kabbalah:

Raising an army and conquering Eretz Yisrael from the goyim. You would think its a normal thing to do since it is our homeland and we were there first (ignoring the DNA evidence suggesting the Palestinians are largely descended from Jews – something they vehemently deny). Yet it is prohibited.

    @akuperma:

    1. But it was done 67 years ago – so now what?

    2. By thinking Eretz Yisrael was conquered by “an army” you seem to imply that HASHEM had no role in it and thus your emunah is no better than the people you are denigrating.

    3. Conquering Eretz Yisrael is not “an ordinary thing.”

Conquering Eretz Yisrael is a perfectly ordinary thing, something very many people have attempted throughout history.

Yes – and no one was able to successfully settle the land until the Jews returned following the Holocaust. Coincidence?

GingerKale: The Zionists claim that HASHEM had no role in their conquest of Eretz Yisrael. And it was them who were do the conquering. Note how they honor their army, not HASHEM, on their independence day.

And while the community in Eretz Yisrael was seriously damaged by the Romans (a.k.a. Byzantines, who were the same thing) and the Crusaders (“Franks” a.k.a. European Christians), it was immediately rebuilt (and under Islamic rule, BTW).

The Zionists may have claimed that but that’s exactly my point – you’re claiming that too. And I’m pretty sure people who say Hallel on Yom Ha’atzmaut are directing their tefilos to HASHEM, not the army.

Akuperma: why does it matter what the zionists think when (1) we know the truth and (2) Zionism no longer exists?
