Anyone just receive their latest Con Ed bill? Shocked? I thought last month’s bill (mid-June to mid-July) was bad enough – but this one?!?!? Astronomical!!

I have level billing and my payment came down 5 dollars.
does Con Ed offer free energy audits? Most utilities do. We found many ways to save electricity throughout the year. This year our electric bill is up a bit,but mostly because of the need for more air conditioning and a new dehumidifier, air filter and cpap machine.
How many refrigerators do you have?
Have you switched to compact fluorescent light bulbs?
If the rates haven’t changed, your bill is likely closely related to the amount of electricity you use.
its a joke they an charge what they want people dont even know what they are paying they doubled me from last month and when its hot they lower power

CF light bulbs and a new energy star refrigerator made a tremendous difference for me, cutting a third off my electric bills.
ronsr; The last paragraph in your previous post is a no-brainer. Obviously. The amount you are being billed is not only closely related, but directly related to usage in KWH. (Kilowatt hours.). The way I figure the cost of electrical usage is, that I divide the net amount of $$ on the bill by KWH. (Never mind all the myriad fixed and variable charges and cost add-ons and all the other gibberish on your bill.) The net cost comes out to 27c/KWH.
con ed will come down to ur house and help u to save $ they will show u what takes the most electricity and how u can save like by not keeping things plugged in when not in use cuz it still cost $

The rate on our May bill was 8.8%.
The rate on this bill is 13.6%.
That’s an increase of about 55%.

I’m paying about $0.155 per kwh from. The electric utility owned by our small town.
They put lots of nice graphs and figures on the bill, so each year we try to use less electricity in a given month than in the previous year.
Most month’s we succeed. This year we’re having trouble because we got a dehumidifier for the basement we never had before, and we have a foster childnwho has no concept of conservation
For reference we used 520 kwh in June for a household of two adults and two teenagers. We live in a 9 room house with one room air conditioner, one refrigerator and one tv.
