Should an SY feel pressured into only dating in the community?
NO!!! wat r we racist? if he/she is very syrian then maybe it wud be a lil bit of a cultural shock that may take time ot get used to but i think russains can marry out, syrians can marry out, sfardim, isrealis every! where is our achdus?
If a SY girl marries out, she loses her SY minhagim/traditions and assumes her husbands.
ultimateskier: It’s not just that. From the perspective of a Syrian, who would come from a close-knit community, it might be a totally different thing. A mentor from the Syrian community would be a better person to ask. However, as ultimateskier said, everyone else is not racist, and if you do marry out, you will be welcome!
Im really sorry!!! but what kind of question is that???? (should an sy FEEL presured…?)every person feels differently about it. think for urself how you wud feel about it. dont let the world dictate to u what u shud do or not do. Let me tell u. The sy community is raised be proud of their minhagim,culture and many other things. I agree that u sud not push away s/o just b/c hes not from ur community,or mentality…but think how hard it wud be to change all ur minhagim…and especially if u LOVE ur minahagim1
