Rabosai – Anyone think that tailgating at the Siyum HaShas is wrong? If not, does anyone want to join in? 🙂

The parking lots open at 3:00 and Mincha/Siyum starts at 7:00. Two to three hours is plenty of time to cook and eat like a mentch.

The other food options are bringing something small from home or buying overpriced snacks/drinks inside the stadium.

Curious to hear the Olam’s thoughts!

It will help people understand the memes of “haochel bashuk”. And people will appreciate the opportunity to actually see what it looks like.

tailgating is basically having a BBQ and Picnic in the Parking Lot

Its usually done at Football games and I think NASCAR events (Never been to a NASCAR so Im not 100% sure)

Save some food for the siyum because it’s a seudas mitzvah!

By the way, why dont they let everyone to make a siyum there? Maybe 1 section at a time?

Cooking out of the back of your car (the tailgate). Nowadays, people have fancy grills, tents and can make a very nice meal at the parking lot. It’s done a lot by football games.

In the United States, a tailgate party is a social event held on and around the open tailgate of a vehicle. Tailgating often involves consuming alcoholic beverages and grilling food. Tailgate parties usually occur in the parking lots at stadiums and arenas, before and occasionally after games and concerts. People attending such a party are said to be tailgating. Many people participate even if their vehicles do not have tailgates.

It’s chukas hagoyim, and it’s assur. I’m shocked the mods even let this through.

I guess by your standards Pizza & Sushi would be forbidden as well, they are Chukas Hagoyim and you Eat them Chukas Hagoyim as well

“Tailgating often involves consuming alcoholic beverages and grilling food.”

Many kiddushim these days also, unfortunately, involve consuming mass quantities of alcoholic beverages and eating grilled food. Perhaps we should rename them tailgate parties?

I’m surprised they let YOUR post through. You’re falsely paskening halachos!

Takahmamash: I don’t think it’s Chukas Hagoyim. The origin (so far as I know) has nothing to do with Avodah Zarah and Jews have done it too. It doesn’t meet either qualification to be Chukas Hagoyim according to anyone.

Naaah, I’m not paskening. I was sure someone would say it, so I wanted to jump in and be the first for a change.
