Yesterday morning, before Shabbat, my wife made humus, as she does almost every Friday morning. Yesterday afternoon, before Shabbat, I roasted some garlic.
Last night (Friday night), I mashed the garlic into the humus I had spread on my challah. It tasted spicy, but I thought it was the garlic. Delicious!
Today, as we were eating, I asked my wife if she used a different recipe for the humus. “Why?” she asked laughing. “Does it taste spicy?” I answered, “Well, for one thing, it’s darker than normal. And it does taste spicy, but I thought it was the garlic last night.” “What about now, without the garlic?” I tasted it, and yes, it was spicy. (That’s ok. I love spicy food.) She said, “I added a teaspoon of chipotle.”
Now she says it’s too spicy for her, so it’s up to me to somehow finish it all by next Friday. I will see if I am up to the challenge.
Shavua tov to all.
