If one’s “cover is blown,” do you really think that that person’s posting style would not be easily recognizable in another persona?
It depends on:
1) How prolific a poster they are.
2) How distinct their style is.
3) How distinct their interests are.
For example, I don’t think my style is at all distinct, but my interests quite likely are.
If I wanted a “fresh start”, I’d keep off of the riddle, techie and do-it-yourself threads. (Of course, that would somewhat squelch my reason for being here.)
Several years ago when the book “Primary Colors” written by “Anonymous” was issues, there was quite a bit of speculation as to who the author was. Several possible suspects were named, among them writer Joe Klien.
Klein denied it.
A computer program written specifically to identify writing styles positively identified Klien.
Eventualy, Klein admitted that he was the author.
I personally am concerned for Joseph.

Wow this is a shock. And my writing style (to my chagrin) has changed in my absence (from not being here for so long apparently the way I write has been allowed to change or maybe I changed) though I don’t feel that my interests have.
ICOT-based on my statement I would like to put forth that if a person changes (which I hope joseph will for the better) they can legitimately come back without being recognized for who they were
I know I just made a post referencing Joseph, but maybe I should not have. I was just thinking, could our discussion be considered cyber bullying? If he is “troubled” and that is the reason he does this, could what we are doing hurt him?

Interesting point re: changing styles.
I have notices a poster or two whose style has changed (mostly matured somewhat), but that’s probably younger people i.e. late teens, early-mid twenties who are gaining new perspectives.
Once you reach a certain age (say, mine)- …well, you know the expression about old dog, new tricks.

The requests to drop the multi-SN behavior aren’t intended to be mean spirited.
Please consider them.

I think Tom Brady is also Joseph. As is Danny Woodhead, Jay Cutler and perhaps even Mike Vick. The NFL should really look into it.

I definitely agree that we should not insult Joseph, and we probably shouldn’t openly speculate on his (or her, or their) motives, but it is not cyber bullying to point out when someone is carpet bombing a forum through multiple usernames, and to publish the offending usernames. Ideally it shouldn’t be allowed at all, but it seems that Joseph has a bit of computer knowledge which makes the deception harder to track. Furthermore, the various Joseph aliases have themselves engaged in cyber bullying in this forum, which can be very hurtful to the target if they feel “ganged up on.”

Avraham , good point. Kapusta, I have not been here that long (I have been reading a while) and have not been able to tell that you were a female from your posts yet. I dont know why I associate the name Kapusta with a male. Maybe it was the * *s?

That was clearly a made-up situation. May I suggest ignoring such obvious posts that are made by (you know who(s)) or closing them right away?

Josh, are you Joseph? You seem to be placing blame on the mods. It crossed my mind too, but it was just a fleeting thought. I think Joe knows a little too much about Yiddishkiet concepts not to be a yid, though I might be wrong. Could be a woman’s lib activist (as you suggest it could be a woman) or a Yeshiva punk. And I apologize to the mods, its just that you let a lot of Joseph Junk go through.

Doesn’t seem though the facts matter in that case as the block remains. We should label everyone in the CR as either joseph or not-joseph and see which side has more…

I don’t understand this whole issue of “Joseph” (not siding either way) why couldn’t it be a yeshiva in EY (like Ner Yakov) that only has 1 computer and therefore the bachurim all use that computer?
mbachur, for one (1) ner yaccov closed. and 2) that computer never worked(at least I never learned how to use it). Anyway the kids I went to Ner Jake with I dont think would know what Joseph knows. Although the was a kid named Joseph there(but like I said I dont think he would know a lot of this stuff). And before anyone makes judgements on me, I was not a typical ner Jake kid.
