No and I really can’t explain why not (people can easily figure me out then)

    blabla,

I remember you discussing this around Tisha B’av. Can you ask the same posek you had asked then or did you not ask that time? Is there a rov you’ve dealt with before who knows you personally that you can ask?

if not, here is the number of one of the lakewood poskim:

Rav Shmuel Meir Katz (732) 367-3069

That rav told me to fast but doesn’t understand eating disorders. I called the halacha hotline and the rav didn’t even know what anorexia is. I’m trying Rav Katz right now.

Next…he’s not answering!! I prefer someone who knows what anorexia is please!!

I’ve heard that Rav Dovid Goldwasser is an expert on that. Unfortunately I don’t have his number. Anyone have it?

I have no clue what Rav Katz knows about ED but its probably worthwhile to try him again in a little while if you don’t get thru to another rov soon.

Hatzlacha Rabba and I wish you a year of good health and that you should be able to fully overcome this disease.

keep trying to reach a Posek

    #815896

    blabla,

did you see am yisrael chai’s post above with his number? Its 718 677-3712.

He was indeed talking about eating on yom kippur itself but he didn’t say that only someone under 90 lb should eat. That sounds like just an example. Try calling him and please post whether you get thru to him.

I would be shocked if any Posek told an anorexic or recovering anorexic to not eat. If anyone tells one to fast I would ask several times to make sure they understand exactly what anorexia is and how easy relapses can be.

I got my answer thanks to AYC Rabbi Goldwasser called me back and said I should eat in shiurim (cracker size of food and wiskey cup of drink every 9 minutes.) Thanks so much! its a huge relief to know what I’m doing now!

Clarifying a doubt is a huge source of relief.

May I suggest that you keep this rav’s number even for advice how to deal with complicated family issues or any other personal struggle.

R Goldwasser is warm, non-judgmental, helpful and supportive.

    Gmar chasima tova.
