1. Kosher entertainment, stimulating when participating, relaxing when just reading.

    2. Observing how people’s minds work.

    3. Finding again and again that the grass is (surprise!) NOT greener on the other side.

Stimulating and intelligent conversation and humor.

I may come here a lot, but I’m not addicted. I can quit any time I want 🙂

Its like Jack London’s call of the wild. I just feel a deep stirring in my soul, and the song of the CR surges in my heart. I am only held to real life by a small string.

Mod 80: Can you arrange for spellchecker on ywn posts to facillitate the accurate spelling that you are requesting.

And while i’m asking, can you also arrange to show the number of people who visit a thread (hits) even if they dont post anything. It would be a very useful addition and would certainly add to the pull of the coffee room!!!

Finally, how do I change the word ‘member’ under my user name?

    #721341

    wrong thread

but we are moderators nor software engineers

posters cant change it. what do you want to change it to?

(ill be gone for a few hrs..learning, IY’H)

i come here because every once in a while popas humour shines through like a ray of light through a dragonflys wing, wet with a drop of dew, as it awakens to spend the day flitting through the sky until the sun takes its leave and the dragonfly drops dead.

…but we are moderators nor softwear engineers…

Dont give up your learning… 🙂

ps how do i put a quote in bold and indent it to the right with a nice grey line down the left? This would be a pull for me to the cr.

    #721346

    for bold:

    your text here

    for the grey line:

your text

    Thanks 80.

Just for that I am posting my favorite passage from Mark Twain.

“It was a crisp and spicy morning in early October. The lilacs and laburnums, lit with the glory-fires of autumn, hung burning and flashing in the upper air, a fairy bridge provided by kind Nature for the wingless wild things that have their homes in the tree-tops and would visit together; the larch and the pomegranate flung their purple and yellow flames in brilliant broad splashes along the slanting sweep of the woodland; the sensuous fragrance of innumerable deciduous flowers rose upon the swooning atmosphere; far in the empty sky a solitary esophagus slept upon motionless wing; everywhere brooded stillness, serenity, and the peace of God.”

    #721351

solitary esophagus!? did you put that in there?

    #721352

    italics:

    text

    #721353

clemens stole that piece from me

    #721354

It is from a Double Barreled Detective Story.

Twain explained in later editions that the whole paragraph does not make sense and was written as a joke, and that he would have gotten away with it if he had left out the esophagus.

The pull of the CR is intelligent (most of the time) discussions that go on here on a wide range of topics, with people from every background, group, age, and gender. It’s not often that that happens in the frum world.

Ken Zayn: Morzilla’s Firefox browser has an automatic spellchecker (among many other useful features), and can be downloaded for free.
